The big problem with women’s boxing today as with all women’s sport, football in particular is it’s been politicised to the core by the far left woke agenda, we are being constantly told that’s it’s equal in quality, excitement, status and interest etc instead of allowing it to be what it is, we are having the let’s pretend forced down our throats and anyone who dares to objectively point out the facts must be a misogynist racist climate denier “far right” (am I missing anything else) nazi,

She hasn't really had a lot of exposure, she doesn't really make much noise. I'm guessing she lives a very simple life outside the ring. And unlike your Baumgartner's Marshall's KT's Jonas's etc she hasn't really fought on her own show or as a co main on any shows.

Then again she's very much still a novice in this game. That could all change in 2024, 2025 etc.

With someone like Ben Whittaker, dude makes a lot of noise so he's exposing himself to the wider public more.

Whitaker is overdue some kind of wake up call. Not even a likable bloke, just a cocky bellend, and not even a witty, funny one either

And in the RBR thread Whittaker is getting slaughtered, which proves people are watching him, like him or not. You don't often see a fighter getting iced like that in the women's game though.

Anyone else think that Lauren looks like that breed of hairless cat, a Sphynx?

I would if big cards weren't interrupted by an hour of women's boxing right near the main event so often.

Given there is a small pool of female athletes to begin with and the best ones go into tennis, gymnastics and other sports where they earn way more money than boxing. All female boxing is left with is an extremely limited pond of athletic talent.

Being an Olympic gold medalist isn’t that impressive. Being a world champion professional isn’t all that hard to achieve in women’s boxing.

A top women’s tennis player who spends 3-4 years at the top 5 of the sport is getting 20-30 million US dollars in prize money and at least half that again in sponsorships.

How much is a top women’s boxing who does boxing for 3-4 years getting at the top of the sport? Perhaps maybe £50,000 per fight if lucky? And they have two fights per year…Clearly other income is required for 99% of competitors which makes it still an amateur sport in all but name. We are probably talking £5-£10k per fight for the majority let’s be real and 2-3 fights per year.

When a fan of men’s boxing watches women’s boxing they are very rarely impressed with the standard. As a sport it sucks.

That’s why they don’t get much attention. The media can pump this pup as much as they want for political reasons, but it’s still a pup.

It’s a sport that only exists because it rides on the coat tails of the men’s version. Just the same as women’s football which at the highest level is subsidised by men’s football teams. The top teams get to play in the men’s premier league stadiums. With women’s boxing they get to fight on a men’s card in their venues.

Neither could exist in the venues they are right now without riding on the coat tails of the men’s version.

All to pump a political agenda.

Vividly remember her sitting ringside with her partner, with a face like a slapped arse. I've hated her ever since.

I was listening to a colleague on Friday going on about how even the best women footballers "only get 60 grand a year". Had to remind her it was a lot more than she gets and she's good at her job...

She eventually conceded if it doesn't make money it can't pay money, but her media impression is that the ladies are totally done in by sport.

A few issues, there was a time when a Brit winning any medal at boxing in Olympics was massive news. Now we just take it for granted as our amateur system is so good.

Also in the the early stages of female boxers career, its often quite dull due to lack of depth but also because they don't often have power to blow away opponents in early fights.

The 2 minute round system allows for a ht and run amateur style that 3 minutes does not over a longer period .
