Obviously consistency wasn't his strong point, but what a talented guy. Fast, accurate hands, good movement, solid chin, and a KO punch in his right hand. Flattened the granite tough Juilio Cesar Vasquez, stopped the world class Javier Castillejo and outclassed a brave, tough Andy Till. Looking at 154 today, I reckon Boudouani could clean up. No disrespect to Ishe Smith and Cornelius Bundrage, but they just wouldn't be up to the task of handling him. Ginger hype job Alvarez would also have the snot countered out of him by the Gypsy Frenchman too. How well do you guys think Laurent would do if he was in his late 20's now?
I agree with what you stated. His performances against Guillermo Jones (!!!) were quite remarkable too despite what Steve Albert said. He also gave a good account of himself against Reid despite being injured.
Had did the Jones fights go? I've never seen footage of their matches available, not that I've looked very hard.
...probably about as good as Lara. I don't think he'd beat Mayweather or Andrade, and Canelo has a gift for barely beating fighters around Laurent's level.
In my memories both fights were similar and he should have won both clearly. He just couldn't miss Guillermo Jones incredible chin. Very interesting fights, definitly worth a watch.
He banged a lot harder than Lara ever will though. Lara landed routinely on Alvarez but couldn't hurt him. Boudouani would.
