I just watched Lausse vs Fullmer and was impressed at how strong Lausse was. He had Gene backing up most of the time and even dropped him. What a fight it would have been with Lausse against Dick Tiger. Who would give ground first? They both looked equally as strong and tough as the other one IMO.

Would be a fun, rugged fight between two massively powerful middles but I'll give it Tiger, who was tighter defensively and a better two-fisted attacker as opposed to "left hook" Lausse. I see this being similair to Tiger-Fernandez albeit lasting longer as Lausse was more conservative and durable than Floro.

Tiger by UD or late stoppage if its going 15.

    Exactly how I see it.

I've always thought Lausse is very underrated/overlooked among the middleweights. Not only was he a big puncher, but also very strong, fast, and surprisingly elusive. However, he did have a few exploitable flaws that were made apparent in his next couple of fights after Fullmer, namely that he tended swing his punches very wide, and tended to rely too much on his left hook. I can't see a guy like that ever beating Tiger, no matter how good the rest of his game is. Tiger is going to get inside of those looping punches and work him over on the inside.

I believe that Tiger would have shown that steel-like quality of strength and durability that he had at middleweight...and as long as the opponent wasn't jabbing and boxing (the smart thing to do with Tiger) he would usually come out on top. I think Tiger would have decisioned or quite possibly have stopped him late.

As much as I like Lausse, I have to agree with the consensus in that Tiger walks away with his hand raised at the end. I do think Lausse would go the full route however, he would have boxed more in this fight than others and would not have engaged Tiger in protracted exchanges which would have been to his detriment due to Tigers shorter punches.

Eduardo did have the power to get Tigers respect though, so its not as if Tiger would be walking him down at will. Floro Fernandez did give Tiger some uncomfortable moments too before succumbing to that nose injury and was very much in the fight up until the stoppage.

Lausse was better than Floro in the skill and durability departments and would have acquitted himself just as good as he did and more than likely better, but Tigers more effective punch variety, skillset and tenacity would have won him the day, about 9-6 in rounds would be my guess.
