Why have Matchroom allowed him to leave now then without the fight? Or this upcoming mandatory the fight owed?
Mandatory is the fight owed. Matchroom playing bidding cards close to their chest as they want boxxer to go in big. They want to recoup some of the losses. Won’t be anywhere near half a mil but be a few hundred grand on a dead fight for Sky to stick on an lose a lot of money on. Rumour is Okolie is also trying to see if he can get a Middle East backer for a one off fight. Before talking the boxxer deal
So they've lost loads of money on him but their desperate for him to fight for them again and presumably lose loads of money again? The disputed fight surely is part of the contract unless signed outside?
I watched Okolie's IFL interview. I just think the problem must be with him though. He has a problem with his promoter Hearn, he got rid of 258 Mgt, and he also hasn't trained with Shane McGuigan for months, instead spending time in the Middle East with Jake Paul. Seems to be blaming everyone else.
I blame Hearn for this and also England being knocked out the World Cup - a disgrace this huge match on the Pedroom undercard below Ebanie Bridges on Saturday. No wonder England lost, Warrington lost and I also blame him for Paul Butler losing to Inoue today.
I wonder how Matchroom determine the compensation for breaking a contract. I imagine it is an open ended clause, that they use/formulate to their advantage. Surely Lawrence would have gone through his contract before telling Matchroom he wants to leave. That 500k just seems like Matchroom want to make it as difficult as possible for him to leave and it doesn't look like a figure that would be in a contract but I could be wrong
It’s bizarre how much money matchroom has haemorrhaged on Okolipus. It’s doesn’t take much time watching him to realise he isn’t ever going to be a golden egg boxing star. Hearn has been making a lot of colossal errors of judgment recently, and they are all coming home to roost at the same time. Deadzone is not a great prospect for anyone right now as the sport at this point needs mainstream exposure. With boxing not appearing at the next olympics, the sport cannot afford to be hidden away on apps that have a handful of subscribers.
Leaves promotor, manager, trainer and his home but he's not the problem...if he's now a free agent why hasn't he signed with Boxxer and taken this amazing deal they offered? something isn't right.
seems a nice lad dont he okole one heck of a boxer fantastic story getting out of fast food how can you not be happy for bloke like that love that story go on son you can do it plenty of us believe in you your the world champion top of the world mate **** hearn hes a horrible ******* we can see throug that
Not on the money boxxer have offered him. He will be top 5 highest paid British boxers on that deal. Literally makes zero sense unless he’s going directly to PPV. They offered double his current Matchroom deal. and he was on good money at Matchroom.
