I understand that Lawrence Okolie is frustrated, but he needs to be careful. Have knowledge of boxers who were treated like dirt by their boxing promoter. They wanted to tell publicly how badly they had been treated but they were threatened and chose to remain silent.
Tell us more or it didn’t happen. Like with the fighters you claimed were unhappy with Matchroom and were planning on signing to Boxxer.
Lawrence isn't stupid. He was a year out from graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from University College London while working full-time at McDonalds and boxing, too, before he jacked it in when he came in to receipt of sponsorship and had travel obligations. His final year dissertation was due to be on commercial litigation. Smart guy, even better boxer. Very articulate.
I know of 3 boxers who are currently under contract with Matchroom, all of whom are switching to Boxxer / Sky Sports. Time will tell if I am right. Has followed professional boxing for over 40 years and knows 1000 stories about boxers who have been forced into the ring for fights they don't want to take, boxers who have been defrauded financially, exposed to threats, etc. It is appalling what is going on. You can choose to believe it or not.
This horse looking clown won't do anything. I find it hard to believe that out of nowhere, Matchroom and/or 258 mgmt would wrong him in the space of a year when before that, the horse was well happy with his Rolex and the cheques he was picking up from Matchroom. He's another entitled 'boxer' who got used to over inflated paydays and realised quickly that Sky are offering more money than DAZN, so he's now trying to engineer a way back over to them. Pathetic if you ask me. He's probably been Whatsapping Big Fraze and that Ben Whittaker and had his horsey head turned.
That's no excuse for not finishing a Bachelor's. Whilst it can be hard for athletes balancing their commitments, universities go out of their way to help them manage it. He should have finished his education rather than dropping out of college.
You're one of the best posters Safin, but are we meant to think he's intelligent because he dropped out of uni and used to work in McDonald's? I have two degrees and used to work in McDonald's. And I'm clearly a moron. I don't think he deserves plaudits for any of that. As soon as boxers talk of their struggle I yawn. Same reason I can't abide Riakhpohre's bleating that he nearly became a wrong un. Are we meant to clap?
Terri Harper did a masters while running a chip shop. During her early career she'd often go straight from frying to the fight.
That's true - the only reason I brought it up was to let others know he may have a bit more knowledge in terms of what he can get away with saying and what he may expect to achieve, than some others are insinuating. He's not Dave Allen. Not at all. See above. Just suggesting that he may have a bit more knowledge than what we may generally expect from a boxer regarding legal ties to promoters.
