The lawsuit, a copy of which obtained by The Athletic, also claims that competing Pacquiao associates — including the fighter’s longtime advisor Sean Gibbons and friend Winchell Campos — veered Pacquiao back to powerful boxing manager Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions, and he signed to fight unbeaten WBC/IBF champion Spence in a pay-per-view bout to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Did not Errol Spence completely outclass Mikey Garcia, why have to see a rerun? Manny would do the same to Mikey. I would rather see Manny fight Spence. Nobody cares for trilogies of this magnitude, takes too much time, more deserving and worthy challengers.
Anyone can file a lawsuit. Let's see if this suit actually has any grounds to actually go to court. This might simply just be a frivolous lawsuit to try and shake down Pac and get some settlement money. From what little I've read they've been trying to secure Pac a fight since Feb 2020 and failed to do so numerous times. Pac is saying they breached contractual obligations which is possible considering they hadn't been able to secure a fight for him in all that time. Unless Pac signed some idiotic contract with no ability to back out should they fail to meet their obligations then I don't think there is anything to worry about. But then again Pac has a track record of signing with people he shouldn't have signed with.
That's law in general. Even the best companies with the highest paid lawyers are constantly in legal battles. Clenelo had issues with his original promoter. Then GBP and DAZN.
From what I've read, they've already given Pac more than $3 million toward the Mikey Garcia fight. Then he turned around and signed the Spence deal.
I believe the Mikey Garcia fight was off because Manny signed to fight Spence. (LOL) According to the lawsuit, the promotional outfit gave Manny $3 million to fight Mikey Garcia. They also signed Mikey Garcia because Manny had agreed to fight Garcia (because they gave Manny $3 million). Then Manny signed to fight Spence and, without Manny, Garcia left the promoter, too. Something like that. That's why the promoter is suing Manny. I heard they also tried to make Manny-McGregor and Manny-Ryan Garcia, but McGregor lost and Ryan backed out. Promoting isn't as easy as it looks.
