Apparently the Mikey fight was to be part of a 4 fight deal in 2020 with DAZN but "people" interfered" and killed the deal, which seems a little sketchy as an excuse.

They also don't mention a thing about Pac/Crawford where were they when that was being discussed. Were they involved in that, might explain why that fight fell through?

Also why despite being signed with Pac since Feb 2020 have they not even been able to secure a single fight for him. Mikey fight failed, DAZN deal failed, Ryan Garcia who they were trying to make a fight with instead of Spence, failed. They also tried to make a fight with McGregor but his loss this year killed that.

There's a lot of unanswered questions regarding this whole situation with Pac. They seemed to make a lot of promises but have never been able to deliver despite having over a year to do so.

 

Well, let's see, what happened in February 2020 that could've possibly stopped Manny and a lot of people from boxing until only recently?

They gave Manny an upfront payment of $3 million to fight Garcia. He took the money, then signed to fight Spence.

Unless Manny is dead broke, maybe he should give the money back (for starters).

Plus it's not like boxing completely ground to a halt. Yes a lot of fights got cancelled around that time but plenty of fights happened during 2020. They had almost a year and a half to secure just one fight in that time but they failed to do so. Canelo for in the meantime has fought twice, so has Inoue, so has Loma and so have many other fighters but Pac this whole time has been inactive despite them trying to secure fights.

My understanding is he took the money as an advance to fight Mikey Garcia in Feb 2020, he didn't sign to fight Spence until last month. That's a 16 month gap. What happened during that time?

Does Pac owe them the money, very likely. But I don't get why they are trying to stop him fighting Spence unless they think he's still under contract and if so then Pac has signed a truly horrible deal where he can literally be side lined for the entire length of the contract if they keep failing to secure him a fight.

 

Right. A Global Plague. Governments that closed borders and closed public events. A fighter who backed out, Ryan Garcia. A fighter, McGregor, who lost. The PBC, which offered Manny the Spence fight. Lots of outside interference.

But Manny is the guy who happily took $3 million from them and then bolted.

So Manny is getting sued. You can't sue a global pandemic. But you can sue a guy you gave $3 million to who then turned around and broke a deal you've already partially paid him for.

They probably sued because they asked for the money back and he said no.

 

Probably because Haymon gave him the money he was looking for.

So there's been no fights in since Feb 2020 then? It explains why the fight didn't happen say in the spring or summer of 2020, doesn't explain why it couldn't of happened in late 2020 or 2021 when there have been loads of fights.

 

Yes, it does explain why the fight didn't occur. The bigger question is why doesn't Manny just give them their $3.3 million back for a fight he never fought and move on.

That would likely diffuse much of the situation.

I don't know why everyone has to be a dick about everything. It's $3 million for God's sake. Just give it back and move ahead.

They paid him money in advance in good faith. If he was tired of waiting and wanted to break the deal, he could at least give them their advance back.

 

Good question, if it was a refundable advance and not a signing bonus then he should have done so.

Either he doesn't have the cash which if is the case makes no sense for them to try and block Pac/Spence as that's the best chance of them getting their money or Pac is ****ing with them after 16 months of failed promises to secure him a single fight. Fact is nobody really knows what is going on all we can do is speculate, there's so many unanswered questions.

Prize fighting is about money nothing else.
Soon we will see how big music etc stars will earn more for fight despite 0-0-0 pro record in pro boxing before this.
