Garcia was awarded a gift against Herrera and anyone with half a wit knows that. I think he has hit the wall of his potential, that being a referee aided win over Mathysse. I also think Lucas damaged him physically, and that he will never attain a real signature moment again. His only outstanding skill is/was his ability to take punishment.

But, when you have to take punishment from a guy with 8 kos in 30 fights; ending the fight looking battered and bloody, your best days are well behind you.

Flash in the pan. No more, no less.

Poor Herrera, can't get the credit he deserves. Danny so disliked by many this is only taken as an opportunity to say Danny is not that good, completely disrespecting Herrera.

Here are my thoughts after this fight.

Danny is no bum. He is a solid champ, but was exposed a bit in that he can be out-boxed. He is not (yet) the P4P fighter some here were claiming much less close to ready for a Floyd shot. He has problems if not allowed to counter properly or rely on the left hook.

Herrera was vastly underrated and has a great style match for Danny.

This was a totally different style match-up from Danny vs Matthysse though some could argue that the first few rounds of that fight showed Danny could be out-boxed.

If you really had matthysse winning 4-5 rounds out of the first 6 rounds, you don't know shet about boxing or have barbwire scars on your back. Haters often have barbwire scars on their backs.

I think Danny took this fight lightly. If Khan eventually got timed and KTFO by Danny, I can't see how Herrera is better or faster than Khan. Morales too with his years of experience got countered and KTFFFOOOOOOO. Let's keep it in perspective...Danny had a bad night and still won.

Same old same old...any time a reasonably regarded fighter loses (at least in the eyes of boxing fans) , they are 'exposed', bums, hypejobs...whatever.

I'm no fan of Danny Swift, but being outboxed by Herrera no more exposes him than he exposed Matthysse - this kind of silliness from boxing fans is one of the reasons we get so many rubbish fights made by teams desperate to hang on to their fighters '0'.

If we really want to see the best fights we gotta get used to the idea that fighters, except your once-a-generation standouts, are gonna win some, gonna lose some. Doesn't make them useless - just makes them human.

What I suspect is happening here, though, is something of a backlash towards those DSG fans who were less than magnaminous following his win over Matthysse.

Just the general kinda nonsense that pervades ESB - probably best getting used to it TS.

Well said. We have "generation right now" and their need for instant everything... In Herrera, they now have an Instant p4p #1.

It's not that hard to imagine Herrera being better then Khan. They had the same amount of losses and Khan was knocked out in two of those (one in less then a minute) while Herrera only lost by competitive decisions. Khan has more name recognition but that's it. What Herrera lacks in speed he makes up for in overall skill.

this may be a bit of a stretch, you may be right, but i wouldn't jump to any conclusions. i know it's really cliche, and gets thrown around a lot on this forum, but styles make fights.

A lot this is the simple psychology that everyone expected it to be an easy fight for Garcia. So anything other than an easy fight is seen as a loss. Watched the fight 3x and it was close but Garcia landed the harder shots.

Yea it was a close fight.

Im just letting people know they could lay off the sauce. that somehow, since herrera did good, means Khan will wipe the floor with him and Matthysse will KO Garica in 4 and Garcia never won that fight.

I find it funny that the mathysse fans want to claim a victory. Danny lost but it was HERRERA that beat him not Lucas. There's no shame in getting schooled by Herrera, Danny will be back.
