Peculiar but incredibly interesting fight happening next month. 3 time world amateur champion Lazaro Alvarez is fighting Olympic champion Albert Batyrgaziev is UAE next month in a full professional fight. Bartyrgaziev is 10-0 as a pro and Alvarez has been intermittently fighting as a pro and is now 6-0. Baryrgaziev beat Alvarez in the semis of the Olympics, however Alvarez is 2-1 against him in the amateurs. Incredibly high standard fight that is going under the radar.
Interesting indeed. I'd say Lázaro was the overall better amateur (that one clutch h2h Tokyo result when it mattered notwithstanding) but Al's style seems suited much better to adapt to the pro game.
