Leanord,Hearns, Duran, Benitez vs PBF

I think that Radar would frustrate the crap out of Floyd actually and win a UD

 

only chance he's got is with Duran, frustrate him with those punch and back away will be his game plan

 

They would all be hell for Mayweather.

I'm not sure if Mayweather would be able to win one or two, but even if he does manage it, he won't be 'pretty' after the match ends, that's for sure.

 

None, because Floyd wouldn't fight them until they were 45 then he'd fight them twice if he won.

 

Hearns is a horrible matchup against PBF

He has the exact style and tributes to destroy PBF.

Hearns loves to box and can sit on the outside all day and box his ears off. He was easily outboxing SRL who is 5-10 where as PBF is 5-8 and slower than SRL at 147.

Hearns reach, speed, accuracy will ensure he lands on PBF flush and his power would mean PBF his hitting the canvas. PBF doesnt have anything to trouble Hearns, he doesnt have the power to earn his respeact. Hearns chin wasnt as bad as made out to be, PBF couldnt hurt him.


SRL would have made a good fight. His defense isnt as good as PBF but he makes up for it in every other category. Look at all the rounds PBF lost to DLH and Zab Judah. SRL is as fast as Judah and doesnt tire out like DLH.

 

Duran would be outboxed at 147, 135 might be different.

 

Well, that depends. SRL was barely ahead when Duran quit the 2nd time. And Leonard was naturally bigger than PBF. Don't you think Duran's style would have a bit of a different effect on PBF who is smaller than Leonard and closer to Duran in size?

 

Well it's clear Benitez is severely underrated. He loses to them all, including Benitez at 147. At 140 it's a close call, and I could understand someone choosing Floyd. Not at 147 though.

 

Floyd is much less a mover at 147 as he was at lower weights, often relying on counter-punching off the ropes or in the pocket, or backing straight up, as he did in the Hatton fight. Lateral movement is the way to beat Duran, as Floyd showed in his fight with Corrales and the Castillo rematch, but at no higher weights. He would be in range of Duran too often in this fight, and opting to fight off the ropes looking to counter would be the biggest mistake he could make, because he's no longer fighting just a stronger, rougher fighter, but also a more skilled inside fighter, and one who could hurt him.

I think Floyd at 147 stands very little chance. To be quite honest, even though Duran was also better at 135, I give Floyd a slightly better chance there, given the movement that he showed, but I'd still have to favor Duran, based on the fact that Floyd would not be countering a superb defensive fighter as well, and would be getting hit clean much more often, and in order to win, he'd literally have to be on his bike all night long.

 

At 147, PBF would most likely lose them all.

But while it may look like he gets no love, remember, this is at 147.

It'd be slgithly different on a p4p scale, imo.

Anything goes with that version of Duran including punches to the huevos. Duran envisoned SRL as a TV Golden Boy, and Roberto was on a mission to destroy that perceived image of Ray.

SRL got 15 rounds of that Duran version in the first fight. After Duran put a whipping on Palomino, he went over and told Carlos to quit because you just don't have it anymore.

With all due respect to PBF, go do the fight with Cotto, then we have got a much better reading on a Duran-PBF fight.

 

Leonard was barely ahead. But he wasn't finding Duran a handful. The reason some rounds were closer than they should have been was because of Leonard's lack of punch activitiy. His ring generalship was the main reason he was able to adjust during the rematch; movement. Leonard poked out the odd jab, flurried off the ropes, and threw a single right hand lead during the early rounds. His work was much more effective than Duran's, but he wasn't throwing punches regularly enough, thus making some rounds closer than they looked IMO.

It was either 5 rounds to 2 or 4 rounds to 3 when Duran said "no mas".

 

The word "focus" went out of Duran's vocabulary after he won up in Montreal. For ever great fight he had after June 1980, you can find some matching disappointing performances.

 

I would pretty much pick all the mentioned at 147Ib's, but I don't really think thats a very fair comparison for Floyd, of course I would give Floyd some sort of chance against all of them because Floyd is a great fighter so there's always a chance, but Floyds best weights where 135,140. Floyd is a very small WW, where Hearns, SRL, Benetiz had to do a little work to get down to 147, this was all of there prime Weights, not Mayweathers. I could list atleast 10-15 fighters I would favor over PBF at 147
