I remember reading an article (probably by Thomas Hauser) where it said Haymon didn't consider himself a manager, only a friend/advisor. The writer speculated it was be because by not being a licensed manager, he didn't have to abide by the federal guidelines for managers. Also, apparently he refused to accept a Manager of the Year Award from the BWAA because by doing so he'd be acknowledging that he was acting as a manager while operating without a license.

It's also well known that he's a major concert promoter with ties to big name stars like Beyonce and Chris Brown. Dude has major connections at HBO and their parent company Time Warner, likely due to his music connections. But he's never been an HBO executive.

HBO has been working with other promoters lately Shaw, DiBella, King, Goosen Tudor, and while difficult, they aren't such a pain in the asses as Arum is, taking that into consideration HBO has options. Yeah Arum has a solid roster of famous superstars, but with some decent bouts I think HBO can still stay strong..........

You have the 140 jr. welter mini tournie

    Khan-Maidana
    Alexander-Bradley

none of those guys are Top Rank.......and HBO is glad to work with them
