Who are fighters with little to no amateur experience and how many times did they fight their first year as pro's? I was actually surprised by Wilder having 13 fights in his first two year and fighting constantly till 2014 when he started fighting 2-3 times a year
Dillian Whyte had 5-6 fights in his first year as pro Amateur background Amateur Record: 6-0-0 (5 KO's). In his first amateur bout, in 2009, aged 20, Whyte defeated Anthony Joshua by unanimous decision over three rounds. He left one of his amateur opponents in a coma for several weeks, due to a knockout. Whyte has a limited amateur record because of a dispute with the ABA regarding his kickboxing background, which led him to turn professional in 2011, although trainer Chris Okoh wanted him to remain amateur. The story about Whyte's first amateur boxing bout with Joshua: "Chris Okoh, who used to be a Commonwealth champion, trained me early on -- I was getting out-boxed all the time by amateurs," Whyte told ESPN. "I found it difficult at first. "Then they asked me if I wanted to box on a show above a pub in north London. They said there's a guy from Finchley ABC who's looking for an opponent. "They told me he's tall and big and everyone was raving about him. They had big plans for him but I didn't really care about that, I was a street kid and just wanted to fight. My coaches weren't sure about it for my first fight but I got annoyed about and I told them to give me the shot. "Eventually they made the fight against Anthony Joshua and at the time I didn't know who he was. He was just an opponent, a kid from north London, but my coach knew they had plans for him." Joshua, who was competing for the fourth time as an amateur, was floored during the bout that took place above a pub in Tufnell Park. Joshua recovered but Whyte won a three-round points decision With a short amateur record and a dispute with the ABA ... Whyte was forced to compete as a professional even though many other martial artists before him got in with the ABA.# Whyte had to learn to box on the job as a professional Sources [BoxRec and http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/story/...anthony-joshua-influenced-my-training-regime] This content is protected
@Aydamn thanks for the back story I can see you’re are a big whyte fan, he’s really been on a good run of late, he clearly deserves the AJ rematch which I hope he gets but this is one hard fight to have with Chisora before AJ. Good luck to him
