Yes. When I saw Juanma getting pounded on the head by seasoned veteran Penalosa, I knew something was wrong.

    Agree.

I was never too high on Juamna anyway, not because i did not think he was a good fighter but because i did not feel he had showed me enough to warrant the hype surrounding him.

The Abner Mares fans are the next to be dissapointed. The guy doesn't even look especially good against the cans he fights now, how do you think he's going to fare at the highest level? Not that he'll make it there in the first place.

There has to be a middle ground. Its either future p4p great or hype job based on 1 bad result. There is no reason why Linares cannot bounce back from this defeat, and that will be the measure of the fighter.

Great fighters get ko'd too, its how they come back. I hope he justifies the hype.

When i look at guys like Juama, Gamboa and these other prospects i dont see any of them with the talent of an Whitaker, Holyfield, Roy Jones etc, Its okay saying they can develop that kind of talent, but Whitaker & Holyfield were World Class fighters by 10/15 pro fights. By virture of the fact they were so good soon in their pro career's tells you they are/were always going to achieve more than these guys could ever hope to because you get better with experience.

I mean would have the confidence to put your guy in there with wrecking ball like Qawi, unless you knew he was extremely talented and could handle it. Floyd Mayweather could! of won a title after 10 fights imo if he they really wanted to put him in that soon. I cant say these prospects are on that level where you would even contemplate putting them in a world title fight at that stage of their career.

If PeƱalosa was 10 years younger he would've put JuanMa down.

Valero is the exact opposite of what you're trying to say here the man may be the best finisher in the sport , unlike the other prospects he always get the job done theres no doubt about him winning any of his fights. And wtf is that guy talking about questioning his power against Mosquera  he knocked him down TWICE in the 1st round and then knocked him down a couple of times later and Mosquera was a legit champion and was never KO'd before , he probably had a great chin , you can't knock out cold everyone, at this point anyone doubting his power is just plain stupid no explanation required.

listen i don't know if he is ever going to get big fight in his career because of his legal and maybe mental problems but on the ring i don't see anyone beating him under 135lbs especially not a guy like Jorge Barrios like some people think

Why disparage Winos?? Most of the club fighters these guys routinely beat aren't even as tough as your average wino.

It is completely legit to be highly sceptical of prospects until they have fought proven top ten world class fighters.

Good example was Tarvis Cloud who looked great beating up cans but showed against a solid former champion Clinton Woods that he is the real deal.

Dirrell will get his chance this weekend but I suspect that he will struggle with Froch's power and make costly mistakes due to inexperience.

There are 2 equally important aspects.

Skills are obviously very important but they can be seen easily.

The other important aspect, which we rarely know, is a fighter's true work ethic. Its often what makes the difference between simply great talents and truly great boxers !

:patsch Marquez would beat the hell out of valero. Juan Diaz is another option and humberto soto who is a superfeatherweight can go up in weight and beat his azz. Valero is overrated.

Based on style alone, I'd bet that Valero would beat Diaz. And I don't bet much.

Marquez or Campbell would be interesting. Lucky for Valero, there isn't anyone at 135 at the moment who can box moving backwards who has decent pop. Someone with that profile would beat Valero with ease.

Mosquera's claim to fame is his life and death title bout with Yodsanan Nanthachai. There's also Valero's bout with Honmo which appeared to be slipping out of his grip before the ref stopped it. Valero is a puncher sure, but I'm not sure his power is what it's hyped to be.
