Don't think too much of it he will say Marciano fought for the New England Heavyweight Championship against ham and eggers, old men and Ex Light Heavies one second and the other praise him to high heaven. Same with Dempsey.

Sayng Marciano was a "freak of nature" is not incompatible with other attributes either positive or negative.

I feel questioning Marciano's choice of crowds and venues to be entirely legit. I don't follow boxing to be involved in blind hero worship. I think Marciano was a wonderful, unique fighter. However, I also see that he had some distinct advantages in his career.

All but one of his title challengers was the curent #1 ranked Ring Magazine contender.

The sole exception was Don Cockel who was ranked #2 at the time.

How many times in the last decade have we seen the two most highly ranked fighters in the world face off?

Athletic is an umbrella term under which attributes like strength, endurance, speed, balance, reflexes lay.

Carlos Baldomir, unless macrocephalus qualifies as an athletic attribute.

I'm talking about athleticism, not "who's the best at exercising?"

Yes, because elite marathon running is just exercising. Any one could do it.
