Least excited I've been for a Floyd Mayweather fight since Baldomir

    This is my personal opinion nothing more. But over the last 4 years no matter what you think of Floyds opposition overall. You have to atleast admit each opponent brought an unknown into the ring that made the fight interesting.

    Oscar brought size advantage, and world class jab. Untested waters at 154 for Floyd.

    Hatton brought quickness and ferocious pressure. Theoritically hadnt faced that sort of pressure since Castillo. Hatton was P4P number 8 at the time.

    JMM - Floyd had been out of the ring for 2 years, labeled a mismatch at the time and rightfully so, but there were still questions about Floyd's ability after a long layoff. Plus JMM was considered the 2nd best fighter in the world.

    Mosley - I said this fight was a guaranteed win easy win for Floyd. But atleast Mosley had Nazim Richardson in his corner, and Nazim correctly pointed out Floyd susceptablity to the feint down stair right hand up top, which Mosley did land in the 2nd round that made the first momentarily interesting. Mosley was also the Welterweight champion of the world.

    Ortiz - Young southpaw coming off the biggest win of his career. Bigger, stronger, younger, and fights in a stance that many said gives Floyd difficulty.



    I feel nothing for the Cotto fight however. I've repeatedly stated that Cotto is a level below elite, I've continually stated Cotto is a one handed fighter, who fights as a converted southpaw, his right hand being basically useless, his defense is average at best, he cuts easy, and he couldnt beat Clottey what could he do with Floyd.


    the result of this fight is a pregone conclusion, I'll still buy it, because I like watching Floyd's skill in the ring, and I want to see Cotto humiliated not because I have something against Cotto but rather his massive overhype.

    There is no mystery in whats going to happen in this fight. Just my Opinion of course.

    My only thing is, who else could Mayweather have fought?

    Once things broke down between Pacquiao and Mayweather, I think the very short list of Canelo and Cotto were presented to him, and he made the best choice he could out of those two.

    All these ******* ***gots saying he had no intention of fighting Pacquiao is absolute ****. He really wanted that fight, on his terms, but he wanted that fight.

    Cotto was not one of the opponents that he had a desire to get in the ring with at this time. Best of a bad situation, but I still think the fight will do well enough.

    I have never rated cotto, think he is over hyped. But apparently I was in the minority with my views on him. Now we get the fight many boxing fans still want to see at a weight beneficial to cotto. This will be a 12 round ass kicking and can only be good for floyd's resume.

    I would have been more interested if he had fought Canelo. I dont think there is much seperating Canelo and Cotto at the weight. Neither has beaten anything other then a name.

    And atleast Canelo brings size.

    Far better fight than Marquez.

    Better fight than Ortiz as Cotto is far a better fighter.

    Cotto will be a better win than JMM, Mosley and Ortiz.

    Cotto is better boxer then Ortiz. But stylistically Ortiz is the tougher fight.

    I feel the same, I'll watch the fight because it's always enjoyable to watch Mayweather do his thing but I'm not excited for the fight at all, I know Mayweather will dominate him and this is pretty much a mismatch.

    How is it better then Mosley? Ortiz and JMM are also arguable.

    You are forgetting his level of skill, which is very high. I would say he's the most skilled fighter Floyd has fought outside of JMM but there is no disparity in size.

    The best 2 fights for him were Pacquiao or Martinez, neither of them were guna be likely with Mayweather lacking in the spinal and balls area so its the next step down and Cotto is in there.

    I think Cotto is a better opponant for Floyd than Ortiz or JMM were. Not knocking JMM but to force him up 2 weight and still get a sneaky extra weight advantage sort of knocked all the interest out of that one for me. Ortiz was seen as absolutely nowhere near Mayweather level until that Berto win.

    So im quite looking forward to it, wont be paying for it though if its PPV in the UK
