Least favorite commentator.

Lampley, Kellerman, and Merchant was a trio sent straight from Satan below to force boxing fans to find their mute button.

 

All those shoe-in shrills who only got their jobs because of who they knew while knowing nothing about boxxing.

All of them have earned tens of millions of dollars for basically being incompetent, but connected.

 

I'm British so it had to be Nick Halling the former Sky commentator.

I also dislike Paul Smith as a co-comm.

 

Lampley for me. Just some stuff he says, not everything. Goes berserk over missed punches way too much. I don't get too caught up on commentators though.

 

I noticed that when I watch boxing on my firestick from the UK.

 

Bernstein is excellent.... Seriously?

 

Love Merchant...... But I can see why he rubs a lot of people the wrong way, but on the flip side that's why so many others love him. Blunt and confrontational and sometimes cynical style.

 

Yep... The very worst. One of the few I mute.

 

Commentators are like boxing officials they always favor the house fighter. Why??
They wasn't to keep on working of course. If you'd just listened to the commentary & not watched the Broner fight you'd have though Broner won 100-90 instead of losing a close one

 

Bernstein is the best of that rag tag bunch, I agree.

 

Bottom line is that if any of us were commentating every third weekend a two or three fight broadcast, it wouldn't take long before we would have said a whole bunch of silly or disagreeable things too. Got a mic in your face analyzing a sport, especially boxing, it's gonna happen.

Glad everybody seems on board that Paulie is probably the best of the HBO and Showtime main crews.

 

Thank you. I won't go as far as to say that I want to stab in his face, but I do want him off my TV. I simply cannot stand this guy. I could go into more specifics but he's just so damn loud and obnoxious and just generally annoying to listen to. To make matters worse he's made watching WWE specifically Smackdown infuriating to watch. In WWE he tries to sound all smart by calling moves and stuff and I just can't stand it. Pretty much all the other WWE commentators make fun of him constantly but that doesn't stop him from showing up on Smackdown every week.

I could go on and on about why this guy sucks so bad, but suffice to say he just looks (and sounds) like he's constantly constipated. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard and I pretty much go out of my way to refuse to watch any event that he is calling. I don't know how anyone can listen to this guy call a fight or a WWE match for that matter and not be annoyed. Recently I learned that Ranallo apparently has suffered with bipolar disorder his entire life, which explains a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if this dude had tourettes, I mean the tourettes where you constantly shout profanities and punch holes in walls and stuff, and his broadcasting career is somehow a coping mechanism for his shouting fits. As you can tell this I really cannot stand this guy and I'm glad there's someone out there equally annoyed by this guy.

I think more than anything else it's his radio voice that got him into sports announcing.

As for being Bi-polar, I'd bet that many of them suffer for depression and other mental ailments. So, he probably isn't alone in this aspect.

 

I can understand Merchant. I never liked Merchant. He knew nothing about boxing and was always drunk.
But, I like McGuigan and wish he was on the HBO or Showtime teams.
