lol hate is such a strong word isn't it. I don't hate him, but I just can't stand listening to him. His anouncing style is seriously cringeworthy. His "radio voice" got him into sports announcing? I really don't understand his appeal. Who want a loud obnoxious blabbermouth type radio personality calling fights? He doesn't do anything to enhance the product, he's got what I would describe as "tunnel vision" in how he commentates. He's ridiculously over the top to an extent that it feels painfully forced, you get the feeling that he's literally jumping out of his seat every time a big punch is landed or something. I mean it's one thing to be enthusiastic, but he just takes it to a whole nother level. I really don't go out of my way to cricitize someone for making a living, but I really could do without having this guy in sports commentating. As far as him being bi-polar, surely many people suffer from that and depression, and possibly other sports commentators, he may not be alone in that regard, but the fact is that it's still very odd for him to be talking about it publically and going out of his way to make it known that it's something he's had to overcome.
cant remember his name he came on the uk boxing scene about 4 years ago big tall black man about 6.7 his commentry voice just grates on me /his knowledge is just ok /his calling off what is going on in the ring is poor . although just thinking back smarmy jim rosenthal was my all time hate / he wore more hair laquer and make up than my daughter does . jim watt and reg gutteridge together were my favourites with harry carpenter on his own second.
By FAR the worst is the guy who commentated the Mayweather-Cotto and Lomachenko-Koasicha fights. That guy is literally a paid prostitute, paid to lick the ass of whoever he's told. I also HATE Farhood and the main Russian TV's boxing commentator. Hate = as a commentator. There's 3 people that I can listen to talk boxing all day: Max Kellerman, Al Bernstein and Andre Ward (although Ward as a commentator isn't as good).
I like Renallo a lot, in a commentary team I like Showtimes mix of boxing experts like Paulie and the hype man Renallo. Can't stand Farhood, Jim Watt, Nick Hawling and Ron Mackintosh.
Jim Lampley and Harold Lederman. Virgil Hunter is trash as well. Regarding Smith: I don't even count Stephen A Smith as a commentator
My mom. When we were kids and watching boxing on TV she would get it in her mind that the one boxer was "finished" and repeat loudly and over and over "Oh my God, that guy in the red, he's finished. Oh, he's going to get hurt. He's finished. Oh, I can't watch anymore." You couldn't hear the f*cking commentator on TV or your own remarks because mum was basically yelling in the background. Until the guy in the red KO'd the guy in the blue. Then mother would go on about how the red trunks guy had been "finished" but what a surprise it had been he'd won. Every single boxing match we watched, this would happen.
Mauro gets a lot of women, though... I saw him after the Provodnikov-Molina fight and he was walking arm in with two scantily clad women in the hotel.
