So often the men who rise to prominence are flashy. They do things that other boxers can't do and attract widespread acclaim. This usually comes with having unusual physical characteristics. Either they are ridiculously fast or tremendously strong. If they aren't speedsters or brutes then they have some eye catching technique. But who were the ATG fighters who weren't like Lomachenko, Jones Jr, Ali, or Olivares? My familiarity with Carlos Ortiz is fairly limited but he strikes me as competent with good timing, durable, but decidedly non flashy.
Jones Jr said Sanchez could do stuff he wished he could do in the ring. That's high praise from the flashiest fighter ever.
In terms of really elite greats, then probaby Saddler for me. On record the guy is a top two Feather in history (with a claim to top spot) and must be in or on the cusp of the top twenty, pound for pound. But he never really looks like that kind of level of fighter on film, especially in some of his non-title fights. Guys like Riley and Flanagan made him look little more than a big, rough guy who could punch a bit. But he was easy to hit, barely jabbed, got easily forced back and didn't have much output in those fights. Definitely a fighter whose record impresses more than his eye test.
