    I don't think Joey Giardello, Willie Pastrano, Tommy Loughran or Jimmy McLarnin were especially intimidating looking. Neither was Ismael Laguna or Fighting Harada.

    I remember a story from SRR book, where he was facing a tough looking guy with a bent nose and califlower ear and he expressed his fear. His manager George Gainford told him dont be afraid of the guys that are banged up, Its the guys without marks that are doing the hitting and not getting hit.

    I think that you are selling a lot of these guys short.

    Jim Corbett was a master of mind games on a par with Ali.

    Larry Holmes would be verry intimidating if he was pissed off. I have it on good authaurity.

    Jimmy Wilde was so feared based on reputation that a shrug of his eyebrows struck fear.

    I was under the impression the criteria here was strictly visual appearance. That bunch are the type I'd ask directions to the library of, not the type I'd roll up the windows and lock the doors while pulling up to a red light.
