Least number of fights for unification/world title/...

I guess it depends on what you call unifying. some see it as having 2 belts, some say you need all 4, others say its having the WBC, WBA and IBF which Haye didnt do.

in terms of just winning 2 belts in seperate fights, Alexander and Bradley did it in under 25.

Either way winning the legitimate world title in a guys back yard, and then beating the number 2 ranked other belt holder is quite an achievment. Also winning a world heavyweight title in germany having only 2 fights at the weigh combining 6 rounds is an achievment.

A few people on here seem to think Haye gets to much love on here, but when you look at it on paper, hes everything you want in a fighter.

 

There have been ex-kickboxers from Thailand who have won world titles after a few fights (I think 3 fights is the fewest).

 

Leon Spinks - WBA & WBC World champion in his 8th fight. I believe these were the only 'world' titles around at the time.

 

David Haye doesn't lie to himself like all those muggy boxers out there who only care about taking money out of our pockets while claiming to warriors fighting the best for the sake of history. Bollocks.

Haye went after the best guy at 200 and won 2 belts, he then fought the guy everyone thought was his biggest threat. At HW he went after the best, business didn't make it happen so he fought Valuev to help make the business versus the Klits happen.

 

Jeff Fenech was a 3-weight world champion in under 20 fights I believe. Slightly off topic but a pretty impressive accomplishment nonetheless.

 

Nathan Cleverly could face Shumenov, Braehmer then Cloud. 3 fights each incrimentally more difficult and pick up a belt each time.

Then 2011 the big one vs the Pascal/Dawson winner for the unified belt

Very achievable

 

Unless kryptonite is found on Earth in between fights.

Paul Weir - Two weight world champ (minimum and light fly) after 9 fights but never managed to unify.

Completely off topic but came across it when I was searching records . . .Rafael Lovera. This fella only ever fought once and it was in a World title bout. Wtf was that all about? Figure they made some story up about his record?

 

Holyfield unified the cruiser division in about 16 fights I think

 

Devon Alexander has done brilliantly. 20 fights and two world titles. I can see him being massive in the near future.

 

I don't think Enzo was ranked no 2

 

Again slightly off topic but was always amazed with Wilfred Benitez, world champ at 17, moved up to welter to win his 2nd world title only a few years later then 3 weight world champ at 23! In an era with alot of ATG in and around his weight class I think its an incredible achievement.

Back on track, GREAT shout on Leon Spinks. De la hoya took 12 fights I believe which was 1st to mind. I think its nice when theres alot of over-protection in the fight game that you see Alexander, Bradley, Gamboa, Cloud etc winning world titles in 20 fights or less

 

Veeraphol Sahaprom won a belt in his 4th fight.
