It was a very boring fight that I did watch. I thought the fight sucked for a title fight. Even though I don't like Hayes attitude at this weight unless he starts to back up his words, I think he done just, and I mean JUST enough to win.
I think the funniest thing about this thread is that my original question was never answered. The conclusion I draw from that fact is that Haye vs. Valuev was indeed the most disgraceful, pitiful, sleep inducing, not worthy of any respect, total abortion of a title fight.
The British pride in this thread is embarrassing, and i tend to think the brits are the best posters around here. I don't understand why people used hypothetical's comparing Haye landing the same amount of punches but throwing and missing more. Obviously the issue is that he could have thrown more, and landed MUCH more, he could have flattened Valuev. He was no more convincing than Holyfield who was about 62 in the shade when they fought. In the end he won but Haye sold himself short by his ******edly low work rate. I appreciate that he was worried about his stamina over 12 rounds but he definitely could have backed himself in the exchanges much more. Haye showed himself to be far more skilled than Valuev, and simply the better man in terms of ability, but then he left a question mark over it by throwing a handful of punches per round. Seeing the neanderthal do the chicken dance was something of a redemption though.
