Tomashek was on standy by as a potential sub as everyone thought Williams would duck the fight. Apparently Tomashek was enjoying a beer when he was told to get ready :patsch

There are so many stories surrounding the whole of Tommy Morrison's career that it's hard to know exactly what happened at any point in his life!!!

Steve Robinson. The mere mention of his name brings a smile to my face. His story is truly inspirational. My mum still doesn't understand why it is I grin whenever she makes pie and mash.

I think Bonecrusher had less than a weeks notice before he stopped Witherspoon in the fiest round.

    From ESPN's website

"Isidro Garcia was plucked from the audience -- reportedly while eating a donut -- to fight Jose Lopez for the vacant WBO flyweight title in 1999 after Alejandro Montiel pulled out. Garcia won a unanimous decision and the title having borrowed trunks, a protective cup and a mouthpiece. "

If this is 100% true, I dont think you have to look any further to find the answer to your quwstion.

Not quite applicable, but worth a mention that Boza-Edwards fought Arguello on a couple of days notice in 1980 when his opponent pulled out. Not many harder short-notice tasks than that. Got stopped in eight but put on a decent enough show that he got his title shot against Rafael Limon the next year.

the story goes somthing along the lines that robinson got a call while he was having a plate of pie and mash with his mum. ended up being the call that changed his life

This can't be true, what about the weigh-in?

He weighed in at 112 lbs, and had only ever been above 113 once in his career(when he weighed 114). I don't know Garcia that well or the legitimacy of this story, but looking at his previous weights it's quite conceivable that Garcia pretty much walked around at the weight and wouldn't have had to shed much if any weight. He was still able to make Flyweight 8 years later, so he must have been very comfortable at the weight.

    At least that's my theory.
