    His power was great.

To be honest, they wouldnt be an ATG if they didnt posses either great skills or natural gifts, which is why noone here will be able to come up with an answer.

Erik Morales. He had nothing great in his package, he was just good overall and thats what made him great...

    Well his heart was exceptional

I agree with that, Carlos's fights seemed kind of slow and awkward but he always found a way to win.

Dude your missing the point. Im not making a statement of who was good or bad, that has nothing to do with it. Thomas Hearns as a pure athletic specimen does not inspire me or his Trainer at the time, to expect what he ultimatly acheived.

**** handspeed, power, and any other tangible skill that we have since associated with Hearns. We associated them with the talents of a great Boxer. Im on about the skinny as ****, stooping Giraffe that Manny has repeatedly has said wasnt ever thought of highly.

Thats not to say that he didnt improve endlessly, and become one of Manny's most highly thought of fighters. Its not about what he is, Its about what he had going for him.

LaMotta was tremendously strong, but he didn't actually knock a lot of guys out, quite a low percentage actually. Certainly below 50%.
As for overall skills though, anyone who thinks LaMotta just had strength and a great chin really hasn't studied the man. The guy could box. He was a smart pressure fighter who didn't give you much more than the top of his head to punch at.

manny said that hearns was not the most naturally talented compared to the other great talents that he was training. he would of stood out in most other gyms except the kronk of the 70's

    His natural gifts;

    above average speed
height, reach, and broad shoulders (for the lower weight classes)
southpaw who fought conventional (made you forget power in left)
    great defence
    great jab
powerful left hook (only Tito's was more destructive)

Everything else was skill and taught but these were natural.

Unfortunately the gifts he didn't get were stamina and a right hand to match his left.

Yeah, Holmes was barely 200 lbs and was tubby at that! He didn't hit hard, and wasn't overly fast. Yeah, he had a nice jab and skills though.

Pavlik's a slick puncher. The way he transfers his weight in his right hands and hooks is really textbook in terms of generating power.
