There's absolutely no logic to how this guys scorecards suck. I've been studying him for a while now and I cannot work out what's wrong with him. Mostly his cards work out approximately valid by the end of 12 rounds, but almost by coincidence - usually he scrambles up many of the rounds and gives them to the wrong guy. It's beyond weird! Absolutely no pattern to his scoring methods either. Sometimes he'll favor clean punching, sometimes output. His analysis of every round is garbage. Thoughts?
I wouldn't say he's terrible but he can make mistakes. None of us have the priority on the truth though, that's why we all arge like dicks from time to time
He probably gets orderd how to score a fight. Or maybe he just can't score a fight for ****. Or maybe he drinks to much. Or all of the above.
I'm thinking maybe it just looks different from where he's standing to me watching on TV. But when it comes to Cotto there's definitely politics involved.
Agree entirely. Harold Lederman is either some sort of component of the HBO propaganda machine, or he's a ****ing idiot. One of the two. Possibly both.
You know those children's books about the Wayside school? They have one story where a child learning math works out for the teacher how he gets an answer and he says something like "2+2 is 9 and 9-5=8 and 8x8 is 11 so 5+6 is 11!" Then the teacher says "No!" and the kid says "5+6 isn't 11?" and the teacher says "Well, yes, it is eleven but you worked it out wrong." and the kid says "If I worked it out wrong, how did I get the right answer?" So, anyway, that's Harold Lederman, I guess. Probably none of that made sense but I'm having one of those mornings.
haha. We're on exactly the same page then. Arbitrary is the correct word. I was prompted to make this thread after watching Ruiz V Toney; Ledderman managed to score one of the most dominant rounds for Toney, in which Ruiz was mostly inactive, to Ruiz! His logic was he was "using his jab well". Utterly bizarre.
He's Ringside and we're not? Huge difference there. Of course some fights are obvious. But to agree with you, I've seen him do the same: where he'll score on Ring Generalship, then Clean Effective boxing, then on agression.
The way these judges have been scoring fights lately im just fine with ledermans scoring. btw When did lederman's scoring actually become the official score of any hbo fights ? he can score it anyway he sees it, it does'nt matter now does it ?
Lederman's scorecards are usually biased to who he thinks the better fighter is. But not all the time. Sometimes he's pretty accurate, but usually he's just a high strung blabbering mess. I feel like sometimes, he's not even watching the fight. I really wish I had his job. Furthermore, here's the reason why you seldom ever see his face. WARNING: NSFW.
