    Statement from the Hattons

Lee Beard has taken up a training appointment in America and will no longer be connected with Hatton Promotions Ltd, Ricky Hatton or Matthew Hatton.

Lee has strong family connections in America and we fully understand his wish to move out there.

As far as Ricky is concerned he has not made any decision as to who will be replacing Floyd Mayweather senior as his trainer and he will address this issue on his return from holiday.

Matthew Hatton will continue his training for his fight at Fenton Manor, Stoke on the 19 February under the wing of Bob Shannon.

In the meantime Ricky, Matthew and everyone in the Hatton Camp wish Lee every success for the future.

Yep, sorta got the impression over the last year or two that ricky and Beard were 'bff's' or something. No matter how bad that training camp was before the Pacquaio fight, Hatton made sure no blame was on Beard.

So a big surprise he has gone now.

I'm pretty surprised Beard has left.

He was onto a cushy number there with Ricky..... unless he's had wind that someone else is likely to be brought in.

It's not as if he has any form as a trainer anyways, unless he is heading to the US to work through the system as others have done.

Wonder who Hatton will turn to now..... Gallagher maybe?

Being Guzman's trainer might as well mean he is disappearing into the abyss.

Hah! Still a pretty meteoric rise for Mr Beard you have to admit, considering he was merely Matt Hatton's primary trainer not all that long ago.
And considering how terrible Guzman looked against Funeka, any improvements next time out might refelct well on him.
    I await Mayweather Sr's responce.

Every credit he did a pretty good job with Mathew Hatton. Those top boys don't really need to learn new stuff they need a common sense approach to trainer nd to re focus on things they are forgetting to do. Same with Guzman- ready made to box.... hasn't got to teach him a thing - just use his common sense to identify his weaknesses. True indication of the capability of a trainer seems to be someone guided from super early stages of their interest in boxing to the pinnacle.
