Yeah hes said to the press (or tommy has) that that is what hes going for. But he said this after his past 10 wins or something. He needs to step up because hes just going to end up retired, and considered a joke outside aberdeen.
He's regarded as a joke in Aberdeen as well by any fan with the slightest bit of knowledge. Its embarrassing.
fact is, most aberdonians dont ha e the slightest bit of knowledge. i lived there for five years and had to pretty much tell all my mates that he wasnt realy a world champion
The disgusting thing is the local press build him up as a 2-weight world champion and make a big deal about winning the Commonwealth belt in 2 weights as well. As far as I know, the only reason boxers don't win the Commonwealth belt in 2 different weights is because it's meaningless. The local punter eats this **** up though and they're conviced that the guy is a true world champion. Bring on the euro shot but he's probably going to fall short again. British contender is his level.
I think even some casuals have caught on to the con. A few taxi drivers have started sounding as cynical as most on here. Some drivers tho, see him as a World Champ and when they try strike up the dreaded small talk, i quite enjoy exposing the myth.
me too, explaining that world champs dont fight for titles at the beach ballroom with no tv coverage.
