    completely agree

the vast , vast majority, like 80% of pros will have had 20 plus amateur fights imo.

15% will be coming from kickboxing and muay thai and the other 5% with no amateur expereince.

Ever actually boxed? Just out of interest, seeing as your king **** around this forum. Im under the impression that hardly any world level pros did so without an amateur experience... name me 20 that arent south american that didnt?

The only thing that being a top amateur seems to give you is a free meal ticket.

I've already put forth a reasonable argument and had several others agree with me, I see no reason to go to the effort of researching just to prove something that appears to be obvious. It would make more sense for you to do some research and try and prove us wrong, seeing you are the one with with the unconventional view.

It's not that hard to use google so don't play the technology card,
go on and enlighten us instead of sitting back on a seemingly non existent high horse.

Did Matt Skelton have an amateur background?

How many people even go pro without one these days?

Don't think so. Obviously as a heavyweight he was able to get by on strength and fitness to make up for lack of technique. This is one of the pro's of being a
    Heavyweight I suppose.

not an armchair fan, ive boxed for years, had amateur fights and sparred with many pros.

now answer the question, name one really successful british boxer who didnt have a good amateur background.
