Well? He's raw but i know people got excited over Prince Arron cos he was tall at weight but this Selby's beating good quality FW's. He has a swagger about him like he knows what he's doing in there. I think if Borg settles him and gets him working well this kid could win a world title in future. He does some nice things, little crude at times but could well develop into a champion.

He doesn't seem to worry about being away either, impressed by him tonight although believe Simpson lacked the game to get on inside. I think Selby may struggle with headmovement.

Selby was classy in patches & is strong at the weight.

I look forward to seeing him again.

Agree Dr, I think as you say patchy it's gotta be consistent but he's gonna be a nightmare for fighters if he continues to develop. He's showing power but also a composure against a vet like Simpson this lads got something to work with.

Talented and getting by on it in my opinion. Needs to improve his distance, timing, defence, jab, punch choice, combos...

Last 2 fights have been good ko's though. Get the Lonsdale and move onto European now.

He can definitely be a good european champion. Who knows he's only 24 he could be at world level if he keeps improving and can stay at the weight.

    Very impressed.

Yep he's looking more than decent right now.

I was very impressed with his performance against Steve Smith and was shocked at the lack of credit he got for it. He completely dismantled him technically and landed plenty of great punches before knocking him spark out. After that the experts on Sky were saying how Steve Smith was looking past him and threw it away :huh

Yep i agree Achilles, I never felt comfortable with Simpson in this fight due to his lack of footwork and headmovement. He kinda suited Selby but that can be said for the European scene he might enjoy it even more. He has to stay humble and really graft because he does struggle with a few things. Tighten up on aspects of game and this kid could be a world challenger in 18months.

You've gotta be impressed, the lad looks to have real power and his last two wins are also very good learning fights for him. Let's see him win a few at European and take it from there. Massive potential and look forward to following his progress.

Yeah, He didn't even sit on punch. I think he'd struggle with movers and good pressure fighters. He's got to develop on inside, gauging range without using his lead arm as a blindstick. 24 year old, Novice beating likes of Smith and Simpson by stoppage the kids got a bright future.

    Well I was impressed.

He still gets caught a bit too much for my likeings though. And he could also be falling in love with his power - loading up at almost every opportunity.

    However, that's really nitpicking.

He is an exceptional talent imo. He throws HARD PUNCHES from either side. You really can't afford to get hit cleanly by him at british level. Obviously at world level the fighters become more durable but for me, he could possibly have world class power. He is knocking out the top british challengers with one shot.

He is tall for the weight and has the slick skills to make any fighter think twice. My worry about him in this fight was that he gets caught with right hands and he still has that weakness. It may let him down as he steps up.

However, I genuinely think we have a future world champ on our hands in Selby. People will accuse me of jumping the gun butI really see talent there.

I also liked how he said that "maybe, who knows, i could fight for a world title one day", he is taking it one step at a time and knows that he can improve even more.

I think he would absolutely muller Stephen Smith in a rematch btw.

So all in all, he is a very exciting British champ and I'll be following him with interest.

First time I'd seen him in truth, didn't see the Smith fight except the KO.

I liked him, I thought the commentary was overly generous to Simpson in truth. Thought the Welsh lad was in control throughout even when not landing clean, he seemed to be keeping his distance well enough and Simpson didn't achieve much other than the odd burst which is half the battle won against someone like John Simpson.

I liked the way he'd blind his opponent with the jab, and throw a venomous right hand behind it. Really sharp single punches to the body. Some clever hooks behind the guard. Overall nice variety to his work.

Things to work on = his flicking jab. Sure it has a purpose but why not mix it up with something more substantial? Try to get the lead hand up inside, a bit too easily caught with short shots. Try to be more consistent through the rounds, don't rely on bursts.

He's got to work on that moustache also. Or better yet, invest his earnings in a Mach 3.
