Selby is doubling the jab up top and firing a right at the body. Montiel is clawing out a long right hand, doubling up on it as he chases Selby back. Montiel is slipping jabs pulling his head back and swatting down with his rear hand to knock Selby's jabs down. Selby is encroaching with his left side aimed toward Montiel, flicking the jab out backhanded from a low holster. Montiel is hit with a rabbit punch while bending over, and his glove brushes the canvas - ruled a slip by Robert Byrd. Selby is jabbing Montiel in the face and stuffs a right hand counter attempt by stepping in and taking it on the chest, deflected off his glove.

Round 4

Selby is pecking with jabs and then laying on Montiel up close, grinding his arms down into Montiel's upper back as the Mexican folds over beneath him. Montiel is finding his range & timing with counter body jabs as Selby is moving in & out with his attacks or separating from a leaning clinch. Selby is getting caught with occasional up-shot rights and left hooks up close while trotting in with double or triple jabs and lashing down with the right across Montiel's shoulders. Nice double left hook by Montiel stepping in and catching Selby on the chin, but Selby pulls a slick move going backward in a straight line and scoring his own left hook to stall the momentum of Montiel before sidestepping.

Round 5

Selby is overreaching with his jab and getting caught with long counter left hooks by Montiel. A pair of them get through and Selby winces and responds with his own while cutting in to smother. Montiel steps back and waits on Selby, picking off jabs and lining up his right glove, coiled by his jaw and poised to shoot out straight, feinting with it sometimes before throwing a counter left hook as Selby jabs in. Selby is caught with Montiel's left arm looped around him, and Montiel dusts his ribs with light taps with his right fist. Selby is doubling his jab into Montiel's gloves and shooting the right up into the air, well above Montiel's head. Left hooks traded, both connecting obliquely, Montiel's a bit more forceful and causing Selby to bounce on his toes involuntarily while sent drifting laterally.
