That would be a good fight for us but it's pushing Joshua to quickly

think he'll be a good opponent, not sure why they want to wait till May though, after AJ fights Spott in November I think he'd want that fight in Jan/Feb time,

Speaking of HW prospects, Hughie Fury hasn't fought since May.

He's been pretty ill I think.

  7. My thoughts

    Anthony Joshua

Long story short, I think this guy is (or has potential to be) something special. He is 6’6 and perfectly built/muscular, has good hand speed, tremendous power, but yet has solid boxing skills. He is very poised and already gaining experience. This guy is only 24 years old, two years removed from an Olympic gold medal, with only nine professional fights. Unlike, for example Wilder and Russell Jr., Joshua has faced decent competition, considering he is only nine fights in. He has fought a couple fighters with decent records. Nothing spectacular yet, but guys like this can help him gain experience. I, honestly, think he could be almost any heavyweight. I don’t think he beats Wlad, nope. And I can’t say he beats Stirvene. For what’s next, I don’t know much about the British heavyweights, but I do like the possibility of a fight with Chisora (a tough out, but he will easily beat him, and this is a good stepping stone fight + experience) or Arreola (tough ass dude who can fight, but he will easily win probably, a good stepping stone fight to can experience and resume). This can all lead to a fight with Fury later on. Wilder makes sense as other people mentioned on the live thread but I don’t see the fight happening.

    Lee Selby

This was the first, I believe, time I saw him. He is a good fighter. The first thing that immediately popped out to me was his hand speed. The guy can piece together combinations beautifully. He is also tall, skilled and has good foot speed. In his comfort zone (movement, combinations, jabbing), he is a very good fighter. However, I have to be real. His opponent brought nothing to the table. A couple us on the live thread mentioned adjustments to be made after rd2, but he kept doing the same **** (that clearly was never going to work) the entire fight. He kept walking Selby across the ring, not jabbing inside, not utilizing head movement. Nothing. He did nothing to get inside and made no adjustments. As the commentator on SKY stated, he had no plan b. He made no adjustments. His plan b, plan c and plan d were to stick to plan a. So, while I know Selby is skilled, he was in his comfort zone all night (similar to how I felt Brook was in his against Porter, though on a much higher level). He deserves a title shot and he is a good fighter.

    Tyler Goodjohn vs. Ricky Boylan

Neither of these guys were world beaters, but this was a fun fight. Goodjohn has tons of tools. He has an adaptability to switch his defense strategies within seconds, he is very smart, solid hand speed, and decent power in both hands. He is tall and a natural 147 pounder. He came to fight and so did Boylan. A very, very fun fight that I enjoyed watching. I scored it 96-94 Goodjohn, but it was a very clear victory.
