Anyone else like this match up, i fancy Simpson to nick this, think too much being made of Selbys shock win over Smith. I fancy Simpson to walk through Selby.

All though seems bizarre, a guy Smith beats twice gets a shot at the new champion he just loss too :think:think

Smith fought foolishly against Selby you could see the way Selby was setting himself he wanted Smith to come in and he'd counter with power punches.

I expect Simpson to stay at long range and look to use the jab to offset Selby and then work in behind it. Selby will hope to draw John in like he did against Smith.

Selby done a great job on Smith no doubts. I think Simpson's workrate plus sound base will give him the slight edge but he has a bad habit of falling in himself espicially early on when to eager and Selby really holds himself well in the ring (confident). I think early on Simpson mustn't do anything rash. Just keep calm and box and apply steady pressure, Suffocate the success Selby has with good head movement and precise straight punches.

By the later stages i feel Selby's work will unravel and that's when Simpson can take the fight on points.

Selby will be look for Simpson to fall in and counter or lead off at range. Simpson has to move his feet and not allow Selby to land the bombs from range. Don't let him find balance make him miss then counter sharply. Simpson got to box first and slowly break him down IMO.

It will be a close fight i think Selby will cause John problems such as when he puts the jab out there he holds it in front of the fighters face then brings the ring hand around or throws a uppercut. Simpson will have to step back off to side or away and offset that. Plus Nelson may bring that up to ref as it's not legal or wasn't when i boxed as a kid.

All in All Simpson negotiates the early stages well then he wins on Points for me.

So what your saying is it will be a close fight and both fighters in with a chance of winning and could go either way.......

:lol: Nah i believe Simpson wins but i worry about early stages. I think if he starts like he did against Smith in rematch he could well get stopped. But it's not exactly a simple fight to choose cos we really don't know how good Selby is. Was it more Smith being ****? or Selby being brilliant or a bit of both. I think he's got makings of a bloody good fighter but Simpson is a good fighter himself with fundamentals.

This is a really good fight, Selby impressed me against Smith, interestingly enough his camp were telling anyone who would listen that he would ko smith despite his less than impressive ko stats.

They clearly rate the kid and I have to say I thought it was too soon despite thinking he had some nice skills.

Simpson is one of my favourite boxers and I think he has every chance here but Selby is clearly a little bit useful.

Very good fight and I am doing a firm Johnny Nelson, even to the point of putting money on it, fights a draw for me.

I had Smigga losing twice to Simpson. Selby vs Simpson is a compelling match up. Selby looks good but Simpson really is a well versed pro. It arguable that he doesn't have one single clear loss. If my memory serves then only the Morris I fight is a clear loss to me.

I only saw the second Simpson/Smith fight and whilst both of them performed well I thought Simpson did enough to win it.

Was really impressed by what Selby did to Smith though.

Agree with everything. Simpson deserved to win both of them fights IMO. Just a shame Swifty was Wazza's up and coming fighter or the cards would of read differently i feel.

Hope John can use his experience in this one and keep Selby thinking in there by doubling up on his jab and working the body as often as possible. Selby is the fresher fighter as Simmo has been in a lot of wars so I think it will be close with John hopefully taking it on the scorecards.

Got a feeling Selby wins this by stoppage.

I highly doubt he will stop Simpson...John is hard as nails. If he does it will be a massive statement.
