Lee's not a bad fighter, but his frailties are too big and obvious for him to make it to the pinnacle of the division. I'd say he'll end up being about fringe world class.
If Lee had some basic defense he would be right up there. He takes too many needless shots and fights too srtaight up. Its almost like Steward wants to turn him into a middleweight version of Wlad. Also he should throw alot more combinations instead of looking for that one big shot that he tends to do.
Vera is a strange fighter either he's at the races and can be a handful for the lower contenders or he is just turns up to eat punches all night. Was surprised he beat Mora although I haven't watched the fight. His style is something Lee still doesn't really know how to deal with, Lee looks ragged on the inside really struggling and although his jab can be very good I've not really seen him back someone up with it to get him to his comfort zone again. Looking forward to it the first fight was very entertaining and both have bad defences. I'm a fan of Lee and he really needs to show signs of improvement tonight with a pressure fighter or he is never going to be able to deal with them.
I don't think its about Vera being "at the races" but he fights well against people who let him. McEwan, who is not a natural toe-to-toe fighter, did just that and his hand speed was too fast for Brian though he had to take a lot of punches in return. McEwan, however, was able to take the punches and survive while Lee struggled when Vera got in his face. I still believe that if Craig had been fitter he would never have allowed Andy back into the fight but anyone who comes back the way Andy did deserves all the plaudits he got. Andy Lee and Brian Vera are two of boxing's gentlemen. Pity they both can't win tonight!
haha i love how slap comes on with a smart comment about how lee was winning the fight at the time of the stoppage. when he gets corrected and hears that lee wasnt in front he then says, "well it was a draw" lol
 Well from the info post by Ferg it was a draw you uber-clown! I've already explained the comment anyway. Now scuttle off back under your rock. p.s. I notice you never responded to my reply - http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10851458&postcount=4 but thats not your style is it!? you'd rather be an annoying troll instead! Enjoy your night.
A majority draw is an outcome in several full-contact combat sports, including [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing"]boxing[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_martial_arts"]mixed martial arts[/ame], and others sports involving striking. In a majority draw, two of the three judges agree that neither fighter won (i.e. tied scorecards), while the third judge indicates one fighter being the clear winner on his/her scorecard [1]. Thus, the majority of judges see the outcome as even and the result is announced as such, although one judge gave a clear victory on his/her card to one fighter. I was incorrect, it was technically a draw.
I know exactly what a draw is mate but slap came on saying lee was winning when it was stopped. fantastic case of his bias there. then the "well it was a draw" comment was hilarious, as if the fact that vera wasnt winning made his earlier comment justified
I remember at the time that Teddy Atlas said if Lee had followed his jab-straight with a hook he'd have had Vera out of there. That will still hold true. Vera has improved and has shown more thought to his work. I can't say the same for Lee, but think he can weather the storm in the middle rounds and either pull it out close on points, or maybe get a stoppage.
