Not so many dudes throw killer left hooks nowdays. Its lost art, why?

Its my money punch and i'm working on improving my left hook day after day. I do a lot off drills throwing cross-left hook, jab left-hook, uppercut-left hook etc. I double and triple it to the heavy bag.

Especially a jab to the head and then turning left hook to the temple is sometimes very hard to defence against. Other good one is left hook to the body and left hook to the head combo.

    Thoughts?

I see a lot of people at the gym trying to be fast defensive Mayweather-wannabe type fighters. Has to do with the popularity of athletes and who young people look up to. I know that I sort of gravitate toward the fighters I like to watch such as Dempsey, Duran, Golovkin, Louis, and Robinson.

If the top fighter of the 2000s and 2010s was a left hooker like Joe Frazier then you would probably see a lot more left hookers.

The problem with trying to copy Mayweathers style is that 99% of guys don't have the speed and reflexes to success with that style. Mayweather is physically very gifted athlete who had the speed and reflexes, Roy Jones Jr is another example.

Not only do they not have the speed or reflexes to mimic the style successfully, but they haven't put in 1000s of hours of high quality mittwork to acquire the muscle memory.
