1: Pac vs Floyd III: rubber match (omfg! biggest paydays evah! :scaredas 2: Pac vs Floyd II: the rematch (how much money!? :admin) 3: Pac vs Floyd I: finally (sh#tload of money :happy) I think these 3 fights are by far the biggest moneymakers for Floyd.
floyd's argument is that he can make as much money fighting less riskier fighters like ortiz so why would he need to fight pacquiao?
If fights 1 and 2 are split between them, I agree. Could be too if they're razor-thin SD's that go to the same fighter.
that's what i don't understand.. pac currently is the only one that offers this much on the table legacy-wise and money-wise. floyd has clearly stated he fights for both, that's a fact. floyd and team say they win under any circumstances. they claim pac with or without peds is easy work. most experts and fans alike see floyd having the upperhand and being the more talented of the two and that floyd should be the favorite coming in. all these sum up and logically mean that floyd would have jumped all over this fight like a hobo on a sandwhich. explain all these to a none boxing fan and i bet you it makes perfect sense that this fight should have already gone down. and yet.. you know the rest.
If the best of the 2 is in it purely for the money, then he's smart if he loses or has a super close fight the 2nd time around to make sure the 3rd one happens. If you believe Floyd's 'Legacy dont pay bills' thing and he believes he's the better of the 2, this is the smartest thing to do for him. Certainly money wise but actually legacy wise too. If he really believes he's the better fighter, he's stupid not to fight Pac.
he hasnt said that I dont think and even he wouldnt be that stupid thats the definition of a duck too risky LOL
Maybe legacy doesn't pay the bills right now but in 30 or 40 years time, the only way any boxer will be making money is if he has a legacy. The guys who choose to duck and avoid the best will be forgotten. The warriors who will fight anyone, guys like Cotto, Pacquiao, Morales and more, will still be able to make money.
The reality is, however, is that while avoiding Pac will be a serious black mark on Mayweather's legacy, he already has achieved enough notoriety to generate income for himself in his retirement. Not as much as if he fought Pac, but certainly some. Now, I happen to think he will fight him when he believes that enough time has passed to ensure victory. There is a little bit of a Sugar Ray/Hagler waiting game going on here. The fight will happen, it's just a question of when.
Floyd does'nt give a crap about his legacy.... He's undefeated and Gifted fighter. Money + Elite fighter = Take the test. Money + B,C fighter = Laughing on the way to the bank.
he did not say exactly what i wrote but there was once a floyd interview where he said that he would earn as much money whoever he is fighting.
Mayweather-Pacquiao potentially(once again, overall purse=/=Biggest payday for Mayweather) Mayweather-Cotto would be huge Mayweather-Khan would also be huge. Mayweather-Alvarez on Cinco De Mayo with an undercard of Morales-Barrera 4, Angulo-Kirkland, Ortiz-Margarito in Texas or LA.
