******* trying to lie to himself. Yeah let's go fight tough opposition for 5 k instead of fighting slightly weaker ones for 5 million bucks. :hi: While you're living on the streets with bruises on your face, I'll be living in my mansion and living a fruitful life. While you're whoring yourself off trying to pay off your taxes, I'll be pressing 1 button on my computer paying that off with the massive amount in my savings. :hi:
A great legacy usually leaves many fruits to your labor, if just for money well youre prizefighter, after all. But great being thrown around too much. Only great fighter active today is Hopkins. Many excellent fighters today, tho. I'd definitely go after legacy, but sometimes you do have to wait out the best opponents possible to make the best fights by either you moving up or your opponent moving up or downin weight to fight you.
Legacy has to come second, BOXING is an OCCUPATION. Bhop has spent his whole career chasing big fights . . . he never had the massive cross appeal of Floyd, Oscar, Tito, or RJJ so he has had to fight as many top fighters to get as much money as possible (this is what the Old School fighters had to do as well). I bet there is not one Great from the Past that would not trade their entire career for the money both Floyd and Pac are right now . . . hell they might do it for Cotto's type money. Besides you cannot really compare greatness across generations. Pre 1970s guys had to fight every week to put meat on the table . . . therefor the fought a lot and fought several great fighters several times. 70-2000s you had fighters all fighting each other trying to get a spot on tv and cable to make bigger money with less fights. Oscar then floyd have changed the dynamic because the current format to make big $ is through PPV so now the big names do not have to fight as often to make a living. Fighters never fought for Legacy . . . they did what they had to do to put meat on the table
yes and no... look at a guy like Floyd, and there's no doubt that legacy and $$ go hand in hand. but of course there will always be legit criticism about that because he had the power to pick and choose look at calzaghe...didn't make any moves at all to the U.S and so never fought the best fighters of his era - BUT was easily the best SMW in the world. got rich staying as the king, but while only fighting one proven world class fighter in his prime now look at sturm...paper champ. never fought one world class MW, but got rich doing it
If money is sooooooo important why are most boxers broke long after they leave the fight game:nut Money can't buy every ****ing thing, especially good health, and it certainly can't buy pride..
its a very hard job that can end any time you get in the ring. have to make as much oney as you can while youre able to fight.
Ok this has to be one of the worse comments today. Money IS so important most boxer are broke after they leave the fight game. Pride cannot feed your family, put food on your table and take care of you when you are sick.
I'd be the fighter to pull your card and the one to knock you the f out ! Similar to Maidana over Broner eating my Raymon noodles .:hi:
