I'd expect Toney to take GMAN's weapons away, although Gerald was quick
Supposedly Toney got the better of G-man. Here's an interesting piece with Jones and Toney discussing Benn, G-man and Eubank - i'm sure you'll find it interesting: http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingforum/15369-jones-jr-toney-mcclellan-benn-eubank.html#post127596 Read that Toney and Steward have the tape of the sparring.
Interesting info about Pryor's sparring sessions: BoxingInsider: I heard recently from a reliable source that you had so much energy that you would spar 35 rounds (that’s no misprint) a day sometimes and even spar with cruiserweights. And you’d offer sparring partners $5,000 if they could knock you down. Is this true or myth? Aaron Pryor: “I don’t know how you heard that but it’s true though [smiles]. I worked with everybody, big guys, little guys.
When Howard Winstone fought Saldivar for the 3rd time in Mexico his chief sparring partner was Ruben Olivares. Olivares took care of Fighting Harada's brother on the undercard.
i know that peter lavery was a sparring partner for Winstone in at least 2 if not the 3 fights with Saldivar
Apparently they sparred more than once several years apart. In Schmeling's autobiography he mentions sparring with Dempsey when the latter was champion and touring Europe. Dempsey at that time told him that he would be champion himself some day. When reminded of it some time later Dempsey chuckled and said that he told that to nearly everyone he sparred with. Schmeling mentions that when he was champion he sparred with Dempsey, who was on an exhibition tour contemplating a comeback. He said that they agreed to go easy on each other, but Dempsey came roaring out and swarmed all over him, decking him. Schmeling landed a few jabs to Dempsey's reconstructed nose and things then calmed down. I also remember seeing a film of Dempsey sparring a round with Schmeling when, I believe, the latter was preparing for his rematch with Joe Louis in 1938. Dempsey was breathing heavily after that round of sparring
Most have shared the ring, even briefly. Boxing is like that. I know that Holyfield and Lewis did a brief session just as Lewis was turning pro. Tua and Golota used to beat the tar out of eachother. Riddick Bowe, 3 years before they fought, forgot to train BEFORE going into camp with Holyfield, and he got an utter hiding during the early sparring sessions. It slowly leveled off later in camp, but Holyfield was his daddy for weeks in a row. Imagine the 2nd fight, the rounds Holyfield won, but more one-sided. Supposedly, according to Riddick, those sessions are what drove him to actually train like a great champion for their first match.
I read somewhere years ago that Valero and Barrera sparred together back when Valero was still at 130. Barrera was asked around that time who he thought could beat Pacquiao and he immediately replied "Valero!" Quincy Taylor was brought in to help Leonard prepare for Hagler and almost KO'd SRL in one session. He even talks about it in his book. After he beat up on him in their fight together, Roy Jones Jr. actually hired Eric Lucas as a sparring partner to help him prepare for future fights.
Tyson VS Witherspoon!!! Spooney kicked Mike's butt everytime they sparred, so King kept lil Tinkerbell away from big Terrible. Foreman Hoooooooooooooooook!:smoke
