I corrected the photo for the angle at which it was taken ,so that the ring mat was parallel to the horizontal.You see that Godfrey was leaning back and bending at his knees and Dempsey was leaning slightly forwards and bending at his waist.

Both Dempsey and Godfrey were similar sized in the upper body.In the lower body Dempsey and Godfrey have the similar length shin bones.But Godfrey definitely has a longer femur and consequently bigger thigh muscles.
