i'd loved to have seen that.ike williams and sandy saddler too.i hadn't heard about galento and dempsey.i remember reading that ali wanted henry glass-jaw for a sparring partner and cooper said "i'm not being a sparring partner for anybody."
Have heard that Arguello and Jofre sparred. Also remember reading somewhere that Olivares was the king of the Cuyo Hernadez gym. Younger fighters in that gym were Carlos Zarate and Alfonso Zamora. I'm sure they must of sparred.
Not what I heard on a German TV program about Max's life. Max was idolized; and had great character. One Movie star said if you had a friend in Max, you chose wisely. Remembered the waiters names, hid Jewish kids during Crysal night, got them out of Germany, and a number of other things. Max said he was 19 went to watch a Dempsey fight as the sports show in a Movie, and decided then and there to be a boxer. So any sparing with Dempsey had to happen much later.
You can check out some instants of Liston and Foreman together in the ring in the Youtube video "Sonny Liston, The Night Train." Even those brief moments are a thrill rush.
Legends in different spheres,Max Baer and Mario Lanza sparred [at Lanza's home]Lanza [a big Marciano fan floored Baer] ps. Both were pissed. Ernest Hemingway[the greatest writer who ever held a pen[says me] Sparred with Tom Heeney and Gene Tunney Reports suggest he held his own with Heeney but took a liberty with Tunney ,and was brought up short.
Eugene Hart sparred with Ali as well when he was a young adult. He gave Ali a bloody nose (So Hart said in a recent interview) and that convinced him he had what it took to become a boxer.
Joe Louis sparred with Philadelphia Jack O'Brien. O'Brien early in his career had sparred with Jem Mace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hearns-breland (1983) I used to have this on tape but taped over it. I had read in a article by KO. they were hyping up Mark so much I had to see for myself but there was nothing to it-just two lanky guys in t-shirts trading some light jabs. Camacho-Whitaker (sorry, no footage available)
