Will you name the"whole myriad of wins over world class fighters" you say Carnera had please? Specifically which ones were world class?
I produced a thread where I illustrated his results against everybody who was ranked while he was in the rankings. Those results would leave you with a hell of a lot to explain away, even without the Sharkey fight.
yes it will boil down to Walter Neusel... And the guy who drew with Schmeling in his next fight after losing to Carnera And the guy who beat Arturo Godoy And the guy who beat Max Baer And the other guy who beat Max Baer There's a lot of guys who account for quite a lot, but you must already know the names of those guys because you evidently know a lot about this era..
You did indeed. That was a mighty education for a lot of impartial readers. Thanks for digging that up!
It's quite evident that, there are various interpretations of "this era". Especially, those which utterly discount primary sources, like yours.
He fought Neusel in1935,the German hadn't been ranked for 2 years. I'm just curious as to whom these myriad of world class opponents he beat would be? .
mcvey, don't deal in stories, I produce facts that can be verified, facts that prove Johnson signed to fight Langford ,McVey and Jeannette. In response you produced nothing to challenge that, you never do.Just vague accusations. This content is protected If you want to debate the issue then make a thread on it, I'll gladly produce dates, locations ,and promoters, you will produce nothing. This content is protected If you don't thi nk the white public wanted Johnson to defend against white challengers so there was a chance a white man might regain the heavyweight title ,then there is no way you can be reached mentally. This content is protected Why do you think the White Hope Era started in the first place? This content is protected The three leading promoters Coffroth,Curley ,and Rickard all stated that two black men don't draw flies at the box office. This content is protected Jeannette and McVey fought 49rounds for a total purse of $6000 shared between them This content is protected . Your ignorance of this time in boxing history is encapsulated by your remark below "not one of the big three were available on that specific day, please. " This content is protected Jeannette and Langford certainly weren't ,they were fighting each other the next day! McVey was in Australia preparing for his fight with Colin Bell 8 days later! lol! This content is protected Jeannette and Langford certainly weren't ,they were fighting each other the next day! McVey was in Australia preparing for his fight with Colin Bell 8 days later! lol! I've got nothing to explain away, nothing to even comment on ,until you produce this world class myriad
No more threads from me but I'll be happy to debate this subject and back up my claims with documented proof should you wish to make one, till then I suggest we confine the posts to the subject matter of the thread.
Fact. Neusel was unranked, and had not been ranked for 2 years. Fact. Uzcudun was unranked and had not been ranked for 5 years. Fact. Neither would ever be ranked again. We are now looking for the rest of this myriad of world class fighters that Carnera beat . Some names would be appreciated. Okay ,I'll provide them. George Godfrey dubious fight believed to be a fix Fact. Godfrey was unranked Victor Campolo 2 fights FACT. Campolo was unranked in both fights. Loughran was ranked ,and out weighed by 84lbs! Young Stribling. Both fights believed to be fixes. King Levinsky was ranked ,I don't know why, because he had won just one of his last 6 fights and that victory was over a nobody. Anyone I've left out?
If you can take everybody, repeat everybody, who has been in the end of year rankings over a fighter’s career, and he has fought/beaten most of them: Doesn’t that count for something? If it doesn’t, then surely Riddick Bowe would have aced such a test!
