    So how did Floyd become the lineal champ at 135? And how did Castillo clean up the divsion without beating 1 champion?

    That's a good question. I think our argument is the most sound and logical. Should a lineal title holder not have some sort of lineage to his title? How can you clean out a division without even beating a title holder?

    The weight issue is only part of the problem. Let's just forget for a moment that this supposed lineal title was passed twice in non LW bouts. Castillo has no lineage to his alleged "lineal" title. He was proclaimed the lineal champ without ever even beating another champion. He was far from undisputed, so how the hell does a new lineage start with him?

    It means you beat the man that beat the man that beat the man. When there is no man to beat because he retired or moved to a different weight division, the lineage is established by the #1 and #2 ranked fighters squaring off.
