Max Schmeling was a fine man.

When he was beating Walker half to death he told the reff that he would quit if he didnt stop the fight to spare Walker further injury.

He was faithfull to his wife and turned down a couple of actreses that you might have heard of.

He gave much of his money to childrens charities and most of what was left after his death.

Re: Janitor "I have hit people outside the ring and I know that I am a good person."

On many occasions, this is a blessing in disguise and one of the kindest acts afforded.

I have never heard mention of Tunney being anything but a gentleman...???

Max Schmeling always took time for others. He reponded on a few occasions to letters sent by myself, albeit in German.

Joe Bugner was persecuted by the British fan base due to his victory over "Our `enry", but remains an utter gentleman with a penchant for fine living.

Joe Louis, post career, was a victim of circumstance, although, retained his inegrity whilst in the face of the highest level of adversity. The I.R.S can be blamed entirely for the fall into addiction.

Tommy Burns was also a well schooled gentleman.

But he did choose to be a pawn for Hitler in the mid 30s and worked for one of the most evil coperations ever in Coca-Cola.;)

Hysterical offering in any sense of the word. Truly amusing Tbooze. 10 points.... just a debatable qustion though... Which of the 2 evils is worse???

PLEASE NOTE:.. this question is offered purely in gest. No disrespect is meant what so ever to any Jewish folk, or humanitarian..... Clearly, Hitler was the stereotypical tyrant with the insecurities of a thousand Hyenas.

It wasn´t as if he had a choice with both. Or do you think you could decide if you want to work for the 3rd Reich or not? I mean when he wasnßt in Germany they hold his family hostage.
Going by that the only way to be a good man is having absolutly no job eer. :good

If I would really think you are serious I would be shocked.

The truth is there is no good or bad, everyone has their own standards and own judgements there is no right or wrong.

There are rules, but they are not set in stone and change from society to society and indeed situation to situation in individual societies, but there are no set boundaries, it depends on the situation.

Judging by all that Schmeling offered throughout his career and post-career life, he simply served to offer all he could towards anything he pursued.

Hitler was little more than a 'hic-cup' in respect to the life of Schmeling. Adolph showed his own valueless personal charcator, and lack of sympathy towards Schmeling after the second fight with Louis. A bunch of flowers sent to Schmeling wife was the most he offered. What a disgrace of a human being.

Max Schmeling will dwell in Boxings Folklaw eternally. We all know where the insect minded Hitler shall remain.

TBooze, your views are respected, lets not disrespect the better man though.

Im fed up with the thought of the dictators name being posted on this site, and I apologise for continueing the post.

Schmeling seemed a decent bloke from the distance I saw him at; all people are going to have things that attract you to them, and things that do not.

I would put Leonard above Hitler in a personal list of evilness.;)

Yestrerday I watched a few legendary nights, Leonard-Hearns, Leonard-Hagler, Hagler-Hearns, and after it I liked Leonard more than before. He was quite a funny guy :D

But come on Leonard Nimoy has to be evil, I mean "Fascinating!" and "Highly illogical" is purely evil

Schmeling was probably as publicaly ant Hitler as it was possible to be without disapearing in the night at the time.

In private he is thought to have helped over 100 jews to get out of the country in one way or another.

While Coca Cola is undoubtedly an evil corporation producing a disgusting product today, they might not have been so bad when Schmeling started working for them. In any event they crushed the Joe Louis soda company bringing the series to 2-1-0 in favour of Schmeling.
