Can't say I'm on board the royals and I wish they'd get the f out of Wales but anyway, just back from another night of DJing and looks like I missed one hell of a fight! Just watching the highlights now before sleep, really pleased for Leigh Wood.

Fair play to wood. Great combination to finish the fight showed alot of heart again.. Thought warrington dominated the fight hurt wood multiple times.

Watched the press conference. Warrington in full blown “robbed” mode. He fought well but had no idea where he was at the stoppage, did he really expect the ref to “give him the full minute”?

All whilst educating us on what constitutes “back of the head” with a punch and how he was also wronged to be docked the point. Thankfully nobody took him seriously - Wood was very gracious about it.

The ref Should have given him a minute though. It was the end of the round. I think the stoppage is fair if the round was still on, but I think the phrase ‘saved by the bell’ should have applied here.
If Warrington was still buzzed by the time round 8 was due to resume, I’m sure his corner would have pulled him out.
Hearn represents both fighters, but can you imagine if that was Wilder hitting AJ with that punch and the fight was stopped in similar circumstances.
    Imagine the uproar.

    I agree.

But I'm still glad Wood got the win though, fair to say I've become a bit of a fan, absolute warrior.

Wood is arguably Britains most exciting fighter. Not necessarily through ability, but the way he turns fights around. Despite being dominated for large parts last night, I half expected him to produce what he did.

Haha exactly! Like you, I was also waiting for him to produce that bit of magic.

    1) it’s not my tweet and 2) Lara was meant to be an easy touch.

It’s not the corner’s decision and the first Lara fight shows Warrington’s corner and its regard for his safety. He’s never been the same since.

I don’t subscribe to this “let them go out on their shield” nonsense.

My first instinct is he should have been given the minute, but he was gone really wood would have went for it after that minute and he'd have just took more punishment and still been stopped anyway

Was an excellent performance from Warrington, on the front foot and for someone who hasn't really carried any serious pop in his career - more volume of work rate which overwhelms his opponent - last night, he looked to carry a little bit of extra spite in his punches.

However, as we saw in the Conlon fight (glad he was sparked out), Wood carries, like Wilder, that devastating equaliser in his power if he connects correctly.

Two Right Lefts to set up the beautiful 3rd Right with the 4th Left the cherry on the cake.

As for Warrington, it was said it is now 1 win in 5. On paper, that screams "retire" but it was a decent performance from him last night. Not really sure if he (a) remains @126 (b) moves up to 130 (c) retires.
