Warrington began to decline after the Selby and Frampton fights 5 years ago - those great fights took it all out of him and in my opinion, his boxing age accelerated rapidly with the evidence seen when he should have lost to Kid Galahad.

By the time he stepped into the ring with Lara for the first fight, the signs were clear that he was in serious decline and he should have retired after that fight.

He does not deserve to end up losing to fighters that he would have beat easily 5 years ago ending up with a pile of losses.

Although he boxed well before the stoppage, it is time to retire and look back on a very good career.

It’s a tough one as his last 2 losses were credible performances and could have gone the other way. He’s also got plenty of sellable and winnable fights in him as well as only being 32.

He is lucky he’s in a solid weight class and for me he could chase the Wood rematch as I think Cordina wants the unification with Foster/Hernandez winner. But if not he has fights with Lara 3 and Conlan that would both be good fights for him. If he goes up him vs the likes of Cordina and Rakhimov or Foster etc are all good fights.

for me I would take another one and see from there what he has left. Would also like him to get the US fight he wanted. Maybe a win against someone like Lara early next year at 130 and then try to get the Foster/Rocky winner in the US while Cordina fights wood then the winners fight

Think the US thing is a bit of a dead rubber now. Doubt many Leeds would travel at all.

The Conlan fight makes sense and then go from there.

I just don't get why Warrington gets so many opportunities. As people have said, he's been on the slide for a good 4 years now but he's always one fight from another title shot and always thinks he deserves the next one. I mean, last night's shot was off the back of a loss; he got lucky Wood was a local derby of sorts or it wouldn't have happened.

Warrington is now one of those fighters who is naturally fit and will always be good for effort, but he has two flaws. Against a puncher, he will likely lose concentration for that one second and it's another Lara/Wood finish. Take on a boxer who can stay away or match the effort and he's done like Galahad (very lucky decision) or Lopez. As a result he's become more and more dirty and scrappy to counter those flaws and will end up disqualified one day.

If I was his promoter I'd tell him to call it a day, surely he doesn't need the cash - but Matchroom won't stop him.

I don’t think wood will be the same after that fight and even the best of wood I think is food for Cordina can only see that fight going one way.

not to discredit wood though he’s shown tremendous heart grit and power to turn his career around

The answer is because he sells tickets.

Definitely is the correct answer why he keeps getting opportunities.

I know he isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I've really enjoyed watching his career and the Selby & Frampton fights were a cracking achievement but I always felt his super high intensity style wouldn't suit a long career going into his mid thirties. He doesn't carry great power so he can't afford anything less than full throttle for the full 12 rounds against world level opponent’s, and sadly its just nature that we all slow down a bit once we enter our thirties.

I'm split on if he should retire, he was close with Lopez & until the KO looked good last night.I will miss watching him and the atmosphere at his fights but as someone else says, it would be a shame if he just accumulated more losses chasing world titles I don't see him winning again. He has had a fantastic career and seems to be a real decent family man - might be best to call it a day. I would imagine Matchroom would want him to carry on, there is a shocking shortage of ticket sellers these days, just a handful across all promoters so I'd be surprised if they weren't hoping to squeeze another fight or 2 out of him

Could do Conlan in New York. But I think a win at home against Lara and then a world title fight against someone like Foster he’d have a few

Thought it was a cracking fight. Warrington performed well, he was clearly winning the fight but Wood still had pockets of success. Fantastic KO. Can see both sides. Wasn't a joke stoppage, Warrington was rocked but perhaps could have given him a minute.

Would keep warrington away from lara imo. Lara if hes match fit anyway will knock him out badly again. I think he should take another one after last night tho. Still feel he got stitched up a bit. Should have got the minute.

He looked good last night. Switched off for a minute and paid for it.

Conlan fight makes sense. 2 good fanbases and Conlan is a relatively soft puncher. Both coming off a few defeats. Winner stays on, loser retires.

Good shout. Probably the perfect fight and best way to find out if its time to 100 percent call time on his career or not.

More a figure of speech bud. Think he switched off in that he started fighting too aggresively just prior to getting caught. When up to that point he was fighting well....raiding off of woods offense.

Switched off from making the right decisions.
