I'm a bit late to say it but I gotta say it now, Lara is a ferocious animal with an unparalleled ability to give us madly entertaining fights. Even when the pace is slowed down a bit that impending sense of a dangerous shot incoming is always there to leave you on the edge of your seat. My words don't justify the value of the action he allows us to speculate. He's a treasure of particularly spectacular action in this boxing world full of action.

 

While I understand the sentiment for the towel, Wood was done. He was wobbly the entire time. He could have gotten hit with another flurry of punches. There was plenty of time. Even if he survived, had the minute rest, Lara was empowered from the knockdown. Did Wood survive Conlan? Yea. But Conlan is not Lara when it comes to power. That punch was a clear turning point in the fight.

 

You spit your mouth piece. The referee gets it from the canvas, in the meantime you go to his back, the referee cant see you and he turns around looking for you, you turn around with him, referee gets angry and tells you that he's going to deduct a point if you do it again.

There are so many ****ing ways to survive 10 seconds. The simplest of them all. The referee counts to 10, after the count you take a knee and he counts to 10 again. Byebye, see you next round.

Running, holding, faking a slip. Taking a knee. 80%+ chance he survives that round.

 

I just rewatched the finish four times. Still a horrible stoppage. Wood was mentally ready to go and immediately was angered by the time the towel being thrown in. Wood still had his senses. He wobbled on his feet at 18 second and 15 seconds but was considerably more stable when the towel was thrown in.
