Yeah that's another thing as well, Lara wasn't in the neutral corner like he was supposed to be. Ref should have made him get back in the neutral corner which probably wouldn't have made the corner panic the way that they did.

 

Was the right decision

 

If Woodpecker was okay to continue, he should have spat his mouthpiece out & gone for the 27 second break.

The British ref looked eager to pull something but Woody wasn't giving him much to work with.

Seeing the towel come in was a little surprising at the time but you have to back the corner to know their own fighter. Too often you see the opposite scenario - the towel not coming in when it should.

 

Davison did the right thing. Lara beat Wood terribly, Davison probably saved Wood's life.

 

I hear you and we can have different opinions but Wood himself is exonerating Davidson being honest to admit he was done. I think this vindicates the decision. I have watched again and again and I really think it was the correct decision. If Wood himself says he was done who are we to argue with it.

 

The corner panicked when they saw Lara behind the ref, they should have at least waited to see if the Ref instructs Lara to go back to the neutral corner, before throwing the towel.

 

Noted but Wood himself is admitting and telling Froch that he was done and that Davidson made the correct decision. If the fighter and trainer agree he is done then I don’t think we can in good conscience argue with it.

 

We loved these matches which you quote especially when it’s high level skills like the latter 2 you quote.

Anybody saying Davidson saved Wood's life probably thinks the covid jab saves lives. It was terrible and shows complete lack of awareness of round timing.

 

I feel sorry for the British ref. He was all set to delay the resumption & get Woodpecker through to the end of the round. And then the rug is unceremoniously pulled out from underneath him when the towel comes in from the corner. The poor bloke was ready to strut his stuff but never got the chance.
