The main event sells the show but the undercard isn’t too bad either. I think Cheavon Clarke Dec Spelman will be a great fight.

Looks like Dalton Smith will have a quick defence before headlining a show in Sheffield in April / May.

 

Lara isn't very good, he just punches hard as fook. I watched his fight last year against Emilio Sanchez and he was spent after 2 rounds, holding and throwing himself to the floor to buy time but then he pulled out the equaliser which is a massive danger. Wood finishes strong though as seen with his KO12 of Can Xu and Conlan. Fight of 2 halves this one for me.

 

Wood's defence has to be absolutely on point for this - which is probably the most obvious statement of the year - but Conlon couldn't miss him at times.

Now, I don't think Lara can disguise and set shots up like Conlan is able to do.... however..... when he does catch you, he's not letting you off the hook and putting you away.

I'm all for this, it'll be enjoyable seeing Warrington get beat again.

 

Warrington doesn't deserve a World Title fight to be honest like that, especially after how he was lucky to be given the fight against Kiko Martinez. I'd be surprised if Matchroom do another stadium fight though if they are doing Croke Park as well, and you'd expect Joshua Whyte to be in a stadium too.

 

Perhaps the non title Joshua v Pudding Whyte fight can be on the undercard of Taylor v Serrano at Croke Park

 

Nottingham Arena pretty much sold out for this. If Wood wins we’ll see Wood Warrington at the City Ground potentially in the summer which would be huge. I hope though we don’t see Lara Warrington III.

Remember Wood pulled an upset victory over Xu Can on July 31 2021 and then beat Conlan last year in a 50/50 fight. I backed against him both times but I think he’ll beat Lara on points.

 

If he goes in and stands toe-to-toe and trades blows, Wood will be blown away. He has to get on the bike and dance around Lara and then from a distance try to land some punches. Easier said than done. It's a really good main event. Can´t wait

 

Dec's off, he's had to retire sadly. I watched him vs Carl Wild years ago as he's local to me. Very sad to see but health first. He's now hellping to train my hometown's BKB former world champ Rico Franco. Obviously Rico is BKB not boxing but worth a follow, heavy handed and still fighting despite crohns and wearing a stoma. True warrior and lovely chap. His interview on James English podcast is worth a listen, very humble man.
