There will be no surrender from the British people - we will fight them on the beaches, in the streets and even in the Angling Club these days.

Disagree. Much more likely to be part of a marketing campaign to get more UK subscribers (or bring them back).

It's nowhere near a PPV fight on any platform.

I hope you are right, but doubt it.

Dont you think that the people who watched the fight last night will be ready to pay 14.99 or 19.99 to watch a rematch ?

Those who watched it paid £7.99 anyway and I've never bought into this idea that the US and other non-UK fights make up for the subscription. Paying an additional 15-20 quid on top for one fight? Very few.

If it's 14.99 for people who aren't subscribers (as a way to tease more people into subscribing) then maybe. NowTV does good business in sports passes which are far more expensive than regular Sky Sports subs - but I'm struggling to see a market beyond that.

Been wrong many times before though :)

EDIT: trying to make a case for this... it was a superb first fight, there's no grudge, there was no argument in the finish, neither boxer is a big name (even now) - I'm struggling to see, unless they demand crazy money for it, why PPV would be justified?

He's an absolute helmet. I can't remember the last time I was this gassed over a fight. I'm not necessarily a Wood fan but my God, did I want him to beat this pillock.

    Ulster says NO!

    Just had a thought:

Leigh Wood v Mauricio Lara. Now that’s a fight. Both huge punchers and Lara deserves a shot at a belt.

I was fascinated with Anthony Bellew last night as it looked like part of a rat had been glued to his forehead.

Why was this billed as a world title fight? WBA (regular) is not a world title ffs.

Could you have imagine if he won. He would have been the second coming according to those around him. Instead his IRA loving turkey teeth done a Tom Daley, 9.9 dive from the ring.

Nor was Pudding Whyte v Pudding Chisora and that was without huge Irish interest.

Eh Day Earn has form on Sky Sports

Lara would stop him with 6-7 rounds. Bad fight for Wood.

That had huge interest thanks to Dillian and Dean's Jamaican heritage.

Entertaining card last night topped with a fight the year contender for main event.
The only thing bad about it was Froch being DAZN now.

DAZN really are delivering with Lara and Chocolatito last week with Ortiz Vs Mckinson next week. Followed by the likes Warrington Martinez next week, then GGG vs Murata, Benn Vs some poor south African, Taylor vs Serrano and then Canelo vs Bivol. Between March - May, great schedule and I hope it continues.

The nearest comparisons you can make would be Brook-Gavin or Frampton-Quigg; both of those had something for the Sky hype machine to get behind. Two relative unknowns most recently seen on DAZN?

Of course hidden away on DAZN UK gives Leigh Wood no public profile at all. @Trafford may disagree
