I wouldn't plan on David beating Quillin, unless that 9" reach difference doesn't end up being a factor. Bet it will. I see a painful Quillin UD or TKO in the championship rounds.

I think they kept Quillin there only for Canelo to take over when he's ready, so potentially no Jacobs or Lemieux for Quillin, assuming Lemieux wins tonight. They might as well make Jacobs-Lemieux like another poster suggested.

War David. Takes out Guerrero in 8. :smoke

There is a real appetite for what Lemieux brings. That much is obvious from the number of posters commenting on this thread. Lets hope we get some more adrenaline-rush type Lemieux-style action tonight!!

If Lemieux gets in the ring with Quillin, watching David go upstairs on Quillin's kind of defense will be fun.

Lemieux has the great equalizer, extreme power. He is a live dog vs ANYONE from 160-168

This place is still so easily fooled by a quick TKO. Have you all forgotten what was Lemieux ' s downfall in the first place?

stamina was his downfall. he is a KO artist and if he does not get that early chances are very good he will lose vs a quality opponent.

But, make no mistake, another win on Showtime and he will be a cult hero. He fights the way the mainstream wants to see. All out, all power. One of the best shows going.

I'd watch him over ward any day.

:deal I am from Québec and David is my favorite fighter here and I can say that after his 2 loses he switched trainer, hired a nutritionist because he was eating junk food all the time and changed many bad habits he had before...The guy was'nt dedicated but now he understands whats at stake and that he needs to pace himself he really worked on that and on his stamina in training.

Heard that Lemieux will get to fight Quillin for the title, if Quillin does not run like he has been from Golovkin. Lemieux would not stand a chance against Golovkin, but he will knock Quillin out...............

Lots of people go on about David's short arms being a disadvantage, but I see it as an advantage. I remember back during Mayorga-Forrest I, sluggers like him are able to get closer to you without smothering their punches. The guys with the longer arms then become the ones with a serious disadvantage. It's like trying to fight someone in a phone booth when you have a machete and they have a knife.

I like David's chances with Pete (and definitely with Jacobs who's been KO'd atleast twice to my knowledge). Though the whole BJ Saunders mandatory thing may get in the way for Dave & Pete on the Stevenson-Hopkins card. Though another two fights and Lemieux goes back to headlining cards again, making him and Quillin it's own show anyways.

    Good points.
Davids stamina "problem" may very well have been PACING rather than actual Stamina.
Another guy who had this problem and has largely corrected it is Matthew Macklin.
Guys with their high-octane approach need to be super-careful how they ration their energy output.
Boxing 10-12 round fights is NOT a sprint.
You have to ration that energy!
Great to see Lemieux has stuck at it and reaping some reward for his persistance.

David may have too many shortcomings to become really elite (like a long-reign at world title level) , but he is fantastic to watch and he will always be in great fights, win or lose. He could certainly win a "world" title if he gets the right opponent.
