Poor show from Warren, with the BT deal you'd expect him to bring this fight to the UK. I imagine BJS will be paid a bomb to go to Canada but the fight ought to be here.

Would be a nice little warm up to the big one several hours later that day when my G David Deron Haye decapitates Tony Bellew at the O2.

Wow if true, I wonder how much Saunders would get.

It would have to be large to concede home ground advantage.

HBO likely pushed for and sweetened the deal for it to be in the US or Canada for broadcasting purposes. Should be a good fight.

I think warren knows that with the bt deal he has to deliver big fights. Lemieux isn't a big name in England but with the fact that billy joe has to travel it will make casuals more interested plus all they have to do is show a highlight reel of David's knockout and that will increase people's interest. Plus maybe warren is sick of making very little money off a guy who is middleweight champion a glamour division that has a lot of eyes on it at the moment.

If Saunder beats Lemieux then the fight against GGG should be interesting.

I'm willing to bet if Lemieux beats Saunders in Dec, Golden Boy is most likely gonna negotiate a Canelo/Lemieux fight for Cinco de Mayo to get a WBO belt for Canelo and then do the GGG rematch next September for all the belts!

makes sense from a Golden Boy perspective.

BJS hardly has a fan friendly exciting style

Gypsies are hardly popular with the British public

And Warren has taken a bath on previous BJS fights which have generated little interest

    It makes sense actually

Problem is how much does it cost to get Lemeiux here? His purse plus Saunders purse probably just doesn't add up considering Saunders is not a draw. His not a big ticket seller.

It does, although there is a bit of risk too. Golovkin probably will need to defend against Derevychenko or Big Bro Charlo before September 2018. What if GGG loses and scuttles the mega-fight?

Neither Derevyanchenko or even Charlo are nearly as well-known as Golovkin.

Yes, it was always going to be in Canada because GBP are willing to overpay to get a chance for the belt. Saunders wants far more money than the fight is worth.

Surprised that it's actually probably going to happen. Good fight.
