From Dan Rafael, ESPN: "I've said very honestly that I don't care who I fight, so long as they are the best, and Golovkin is the best out there in the middleweight division. And I consider myself fully of his caliber. I don't want any easy fights. GGG is the fight that people want to see. He wants me, then he'll get me. On the 17th, it's going to be fireworks. I want history. I want big, big things. And this is another big step." "Everyone should be ready to have a new man to fear in the middleweight division," Lemieux said. "I am well aware of what kind of power I am facing, but I'm not worried about it. It's going to be a war. I know he's going to come to fight. He might break my nose, but I'm going break his too." War!!!! 👊🏻💥
That's what all fighters should be like, have big cojones and fight the best no matter what....unlike Cotta lately.
Like Bradley said, if you avoid the best fighters then you're only hurting yourself. If you never take on the best, then you'll never be the best.
Words are words. Fighters say all kinds of fluff to attract attention, fans, sponsors. Let's see if he can back them up and come to fight with heart and a good fight plan.
And that's why Timmy has one of the better resume in Boxing today. Fear of losing messes with guys way too much, but that's understandable if the read these message boards, which can't be good for their confidence.:-(
Very impressed with the guts in Lem... if anyone had a reason to duck G, its Lem, who just now got his time as a belt holder after his long road back to the top. And just as hes clawed himself there, hes going in with Golovkin. Pretty badass.
More qoutes. This one from boxing scene! "I want to fight the best boxers and Golovkin is the best. He is currently at the top. When I beat him, I beat him at his best. I also have a lot of knockouts and a lot of power. This is a guy who comes forward, so I know that I won't have to run after him around the ring. It'll be a war," Lemieux told RDS . "Golovkin has a habit of hurting his opponents mentally before demolishing them mentally, but I have the power and I know who I'm going to fight. I'm not going in there to fight against Golovkin, but I'm going in there to win against Golovkin."
Once Lemieux gets a taste of the power and feels the constant pressure, he'll be moving backwards or sideways until his corner saves him. I commend his courage though.
GGG never faced that kind of power too. Lemieux won't be nice, neither will he be a good boy. GGG style to take shot to land a bigger one won't work. It will actually backfire him. Still, I don't think Lemieux has much of a chance, I thought he was too green, not skilled enough.
But Cotto has taken on plenty of tough fights in his career. Lemieux is a huge underdog in this fight. He's going to get badly hurt and knocked out in this fight. Once that happens, if he isn't ruined, it's going to take him a little while to get back to where he is now. After that happens, he'll probably have learned his lesson and will probably turn it down the next time he's offered a fight he can't win unless it's for huge money. Then, a bunch of people on the internet will forget all about the risk he took against Golovkin he will denigrate him for not making a bad career decision.
